United Church of Christ (inclusive) opening in Abington, Mass.
Either this church is new, or else they just put up a new banner today.

Apparently, there are a bunch of them around that I never knew about:

I'm not a Christian (or even a Theist or Deist) but if I were a Christian, this would be the second most likely church I'd belong to after The Unitarians.

Or maybe the Raelians. I hear the Raelians have wild sex orgies.

You may remember the UCC.

The UCC is the church whose TV commercial was banned from some networks because tolerance and inclusion were contrary to "the current administration's policy."

They're also the ones who came out to defend Spongebob Squarepants against James "Fuck-us On The Family" Dobson's anti-sponge crusade.

Welcome to the United Church of Christ—a community of faith that seeks to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed. The UCC was founded in 1957 as the union of several different Christian traditions: from the beginning of our history, we were a church that affirmed the ideal that Christians did not always have to agree to live together in communion. Our motto—"that they may all be one"—is Jesus' prayer for the unity of the church. The UCC is one of the most diverse Christian churches in the United States. Use the directory on the left of this page to read stories about the history and future of our community.

2. UCC is awesome if you're a Christian.
But you don't need to be a Christian to be a Unitarian. In my experience the Unitarian services are 1/2 current events and 1/2 Comparative Religion 101.

If I wasn't a lazy bastard who slept in on Sundays I'd make an effort to go regularly as a non-theist. They do good things without all the dogma and authoritarianism.

4. I belong to a UCC chruch in Watertown.
I love that church. I did a lot of research into denominations when I was looking for a church a few years ago, and the UCC was the best one for me.

Interestingly, this was the first church to ordain a black man, a woman, and a gay person. This church walks the walk.
