Breaking: MA Election Day Registration vote Thursday !!
Edited on Mon Jul-14-08 04:24 PM by Breeze54
We've Almost Won Election Day Registration

After two years of discussion, and with just 20 days left in this session, the Massachusetts Senate is moving forward with the state's most important voting reform in decades. Not since 18 year-olds were given the right to vote has the state passed a bill with the potential to increase voter turnout so much.

On Thursday, July 17, S.B. 2514 — a bill for Election Day Registration in Massachusetts — will come to the State Senate floor. The vote will be close. Now is the time when citizen voices like yours can powerfully impact the debate. If you want to help pass this historic bill, ask your Senator now to vote in favor of Election Day Registration.

Massachusetts has been considering this measure for the past two years. Now is the time to pass it. Call your Senator
Scott Brown at 617-722-1555 and urge a "yes" vote on S.B. 2514.

The nine states with Election Day Registration have turnout rates that are 10 to 12 points higher than states without. Election Day Registration is of particular benefit to young voters, first time voters, voters of color, and new citizens.

Research suggests that Election Day Registration in Massachusetts could bring over 200,000 new voters to the polls. The enthusiasm surrounding the 2008 elections is tremendous. Election Day Registration would ensure no eligible citizen need be turned away from voting.

Please call Senator Brown or your Senator now at 617-722-1555 to support Election Day Registration.

Thank You for working to build a better world.
