Auto insurance...
Questions...

In the vote for governor/senator/etc. was there a vote on the back of the form for the auto insurance thing?

Why is Deval doing this?

I checked the auto quotes linked to by the site mass.gov, and everyones car insurance that I know of is going up.

I thought democrats push for socialism programs... Is he being pressured to do this, is he getting some kick back, or does he actually think that this will lower prices?

I really wish I didn't vote for him solely because of this issue. If I knew he was this far right, I wish I could have my vote back.

1. I don't know the specifics of the vote for the auto insurance thing?
But auto insurance laws in MA have ALWAYS been controversial. All I can give you is evidence.

I have been with Liberty Mutual since 1968, and in each of the last 5 years, including this year, my insurance premium has gone down about $50-%75/yr. That's with all the required insurance, plus collision, on a '95 Chevy. I'm in the Boston area which has the most expensive rates in the state.

2. According to the new site...
http://www.mass.gov/autorates

My car insurance is going up by $1,100... Awesome. I am young and "unexperienced," but I mean, this is ridiculous. My mother's, who has been driving for 35+ years and never had a ticket in her life, is going up by over $150.

I HATE Deval Patrick. I wish I voted Republican. I'm not even joking.

3. It was the Republicans who were pushing for this.
Look at Deval's predecessors (Romney, Celluci) if you want to find blame.

BTW, the state legislature really runs MA. Though overwhelming Democratic, the Republican minority supports the new auto insurance laws also.

4. I know.
But the last two also didn't push forward this bill. If a Republican governor tried to push this through, all the Democrats would be against it because it's just what they do. This has to be the work of lobbying. No other way that this could have been accomplished. I'm not proud to have voted Democrat. I should have voted Green.

5. MA auto insurance
I'm not so sure about who is at fault here?! We had the last no fault auto, at least a high bred version, with a merit system. New insurance still has to pass regulators, but after NJ dumped it...the writing may have been on the wall. I used to have a very high rate, but lowered thru the years. Or, you could say they wore me out!
