Suspect in car plunge arraigned on motor vehicle homicide charge
Edited on Tue Aug-07-07 05:07 PM by IanDB1
BOSTON -- A New Hampshire man who drove his car off a highway ramp and whose friend died in the 70-foot plunge pleads not guilty.

Prosecutors didn't request bail for 20-year-old Albert Auprey of Manchester, who was arraigned on a charge of motor vehicle homicide. But a Suffolk Superior Court judge ordered him to report to probation weekly while the case is pending.

Auprey's friend, 20-year-old John Anderson, was killed March 18th when Auprey lost control of his car and drove it over a Jersey barrier.

The car fell off the Interstate 93 exit ramp and landed on the Boston Sand and Gravel property below.

Car plunges to gravel site from ramp, killing man

By James Vaznis, Globe Staff | March 19, 2007

One man was killed but another survived early yesterday when the car they were in careered off a highway exit ramp and plunged to the site of Boston Sand & Gravel, State Police said.

The survivor, who police identified as Albert Auprey, 20, of Manchester, N.H., called police from a cellphone after the crash shortly before 7 a.m., but he was so dazed he could not tell authorities where to find the car.

State Police, using cellphone tower signals, tracked the vehicle about a half hour later to the property, which is adjacent to Interstate 93.

Police could not say where on the ramp the car lost control or how far it fell. WBZ-TV reported that the car fell about 70 feet.
