Diane Kitty Patrick suffering from Depression. Or is she?
Today's Globe reveals that Diane "Kitty" Patrick is suffering from depression and the Governor will assume an abbreviated schedule to accomodate her faltering condition. To begin, I hope and pray for a speedy recovery for Diane and wish her good health. BUT, I can't help but think this is a ploy to take the attention off of Deval and his succession of political blunders that have covered the media of late. The whole thing is just to convenient to be true. Every novice politician knows, and yes Deval appears to be a novice, a little sympathy can go a long way. Make the public feel bad for you and all the criticism goes away. Let's just hope this situation keeps Deval far, far, far away from his regular duties for a long, long time. Hey Deval, feel free to take a few months or maybe a year to be sure Kitty, I mean Diane, is okay.
I will let all of you debate Diane-Kitty's true medical condition, but I remain a skeptic. What I really wanted to bring to your attention is the fact that this story appeared on the front page of the Globe. The story says very little about her actual condition and a whole lot about her life with Deval and how together they built success out of modest beginnings defying all odds, in large part due to Deval's steadfast determination. It was the Globe's version of a "Let's-stop-picking-on-Deval" story. Afterall, Deval is a victim in all this.
Low and behold, there is a second story on the front page of the Globe. This one below the fold and also about a politician's wife. The second story is about Mitt Romney and his "showcase" wife Ann Romney. This is classic Globe bias. The Romney story talks about Mitt and how he props his wife up on stage in the most disingenuous fashion at every political stop in order to politicize his traditional family structure. In other words, It is all a bullsh*t act on Romney's behalf. You read the stories and decide for yourself.
Here are the facts; If a politician wants to get some favorable press they will release it to the media so it gets on the front page of the Sunday edition. Everyone reads the paper on Sunday so you know they will see. Also, you will never be called to task about the story because its Sunday. Also, if the press sets out to knock a candidate down a notch they will do it on a Sunday for all the same reasons.
