Senator Mikulski + my letter re: touch screen voting:
Dear Ms. G:

Thank you for getting in touch with me to express your views on touch screen voting. It's great to hear from you.

I share your concerns about the touch-screen voting machines and the lack of a verifiable paper ballot. The foundation of our democracy is built on the fundamental right of every U.S. citizen to vote for the candidate of their choice on Election Day and know their vote counted. I understand the need for strong federal standards and oversight to ensure that the votes of all citizens are counted fairly on Election Day. Your views will be helpful to me should this issue come before the Senate.

Again, thanks for writing. If I can be of any assistance to you in the future, please get in touch with me.

Sincerely,
Barbara A. Mikulski
United States Senator

-------------------

My letter to her (and to my other congress-critters) was prompted by the following OP from BradBlog:

Especially in light of the following story in today's NY Times, about 'New State rules raising hurdles at voting booth,' we are all obligated to do EVERYTHING we can to encourage fair elections coming up. 'They' are out to get us again.

Marylanders, can't we encourage her and Senator Cardin and our other 'critters' actively to involve themselves in the issue?

5. Read this link

This Linda Lamone, a Democrat, apparent got all sorts of perks for bringing Diebold machines to Maryland, and she won't let go of them.

4. I've written to her before, and she always...
...writes back with an indication of where she stands on an issue. Even if she disagrees with what you have to say. Unlike the "thank you, I'll keep that in mind" that I get from some of the other critters.
