Anti-war vigil in Olney every Saturday
A group of elderly Quakers from the Friends Retirement Home holds a silent vigil against war every Saturday from 10:30 - 11:30 am at the intersection of Route 108 and Georgia Avenue.

Last week I joined them, because I noticed they were being harassed by a group of pro-war demonstrators across the street. You can read about it here:

I'm planning to go again tomorrow with my adult daughter.

You're all welcome to join us!

1. Olney vigils/ Freepers

An honest to God conservative told me that the hate-spewing free republic wingnuts do far more damage to conservatism than liberals ever could. So I guess we should
thank them! :-)

I've done a few of the Olney vigils also. The peacemakers show dignity, love, and class, and have a wealth of experience and background. Among the regulars and those who join now and then, are physicians, nurses, educators, scientists, religious leaders, and engineers. Many are retired, some are still working. Several are vets of wars from WW2 through Iraq.

As to the creepy freepers, what can you say about anyone who beats up on their grandparents?

3. More on Olney vigils/creepy freepies
Just wanted to add another good reason to vigil with the Olney Quakers on Saturday mornings. The show across the street is hilarious.
Don't want to stoop to their level and make fun of appearances, but it's like watching a cartoon show. The characters are a study in caricature. You'll have a good laugh at the white haired wonder who screeches inane comments, (must be off her medication), the pompous guy who repeats the same tired, inaccurate script, the aging cheerleaders with their "woo-hoos." It really is funny to watch. Come on down.
Thanks for the Olney Blue welcome!:-)
Vincenzo

4. It's a zoo
They really are a gang of rethug circus freaks.

I was going to the vigils, but a bout with sciatica has sidelined me for the past few weeks.

5. Olney vigil/ Freaky freepies Sideshow
Edited on Sat Nov-03-07 01:59 PM by vincenzoesq
I've heard that these silly freeper buffoons are mercenaries. I guess you call "Rent a Reprobate." Today was like watching drunks
at a carnival. Entertaining and laughable, but also a little sad to watch. Those brain cells are gone and will never
regenerate.

6. Peace vigils/ Olney, Westminster
A member of Women in Black stopped by the Olney vigil a couple of weeks ago. Women in Black hold a peace vigil in Westminster, Md. two Saturdays a month.
They are meeting tomorrow, November 24, in front of the Carroll County Library, 50 E Main Street, at 1 pm. Apparently P and his band of buffoons have found their vigils and have been taking the sideshow to confront the WIB in Westminster. So, if you'd like NOT one, but TWO opportunities to join in a dignified stand for peace, and also get a double feature performance of our local neanderthals, the freep freaks, please join us. Westminster is straight up 97 from Olney.
