LePage Accuses Dems of Discrimination; Dems Demand LePage Apology
From the Maine Democratic Party

PORTLAND- Saturday, during a Republican fundraiser, GOP candidate for Governor Paul LePage spoke out directly against Victory 2010 campaign manager Arden Manning. LePage said Manning has made comments on blogs saying LePage would not make a good governor because he's of French-Canadian Catholic background. "This is a lie, plain and simple," said Arden Manning, campaign manager for Victory 2010. "I'm offended and confused that LePage has decided to go after me personally."

Monday, the Democratic Party called on Paul LePage to apologize to them and their campaign manager. "Paul LePage has made an offensive claim that has no basis in reality. Instead of responding to the issues that matter in this election, he decided to smear a member of our staff. LePage needs to apologize to Mr. Manning and to the Maine Democratic Party," said Mary Erin Casale, executive director of the Maine Democratic Party.

Judy Paradis, a former State Senator, State Representative and tireless advocate for the Franco American community said, "Many people have a lot of concerns about Paul LePage's extreme positions. He has made many controversial statements, but we have seen no specifics on how he would govern when it comes to the issues that actually matter. It is upsetting that LePage would make up facts to attack the leader of the Democrats campaign and the Democratic Party."

1. This Democrat who has French-Candian heritage calls on LePage
to go pound sand. Typical Republican campaign - politics of division with no vision/plan to run the government.

2. Apparently Maine repubs are also using the Karl Rove
handbook of smear tactics now... throw lies out there and see if they'll stick. "Comments on blogs" huh? Produce them then LePage.

What's just as offensive as lies like this one though, is the fact that the LePage people think we're all dumb enough to believe them. Seriously, what bigwig working on behalf of any political party would be foolish enough to insult one of Maine's largest voting blocs?

LePage, you've already got the stupid-people vote wrapped up... why are you still pandering to them?

3. And insulting the elders
LePage has already questioned Mitchell's age. In a state with a very high percentage of seniors.

4. Lying, smear tactics?

Maybe, but there may also be another explanation. He could have been suffering from a paranoid episode when he made those remarks. In which case he truly did believe them…
