I'm so very happy to be putting in my two cents (been reading DU since May of 2002, but finally engaging) and am looking forward to getting to know other Louisiana DU-ers.

5. I know how you feel. I was a professional lurker since 2001,

but finally decided to put in my two cents this year too. I found this site from buzzflash.com, which I discovered early 2001 after the coup in D.C. (around the time I left LSU). When I found out about Bush's illegal insider trading with Harken and read Greg Palast's investigative reports on the BBC, I became compelled to know more and more and more... Then I discovered DU because of the "Top 10 Conservative Idiots" and a few great articles that were posted at BuzzFlash. I found I was learning faster by reading the DU forum(s) than hunting down all the articles by myself. When I lived overseas last year, in order to save time, I would come to DU first to find out the latest scoop.

7. I'd love to meet up with other LA Du'ers!

I live in Ferriday, about 90 miles north of you guys. It's pretty conservative here. I've only seen one (besides mine)Kerry bumpersticker around here.

If a meetup could get organized, I'd certainly find the time to come down!

I'm a newbie, so I'm probably not the best person to organize a meet-up, but this is where I got the information. I'll continue to check up on it and hopefully more people will be interested next month.
