David Vitter should resign
http://www.crooksandliars.com/

Vitter should be forced to resign immediately by the people of LA. If anyone should want an independent commission to sort out what happened it should be him because his people died. The fact that he failed to vote is just as powerful as voting against the measure.

Swamp Rat, Can you give us some David Vitter photoshop please?

1. I'm still trying to understand how Vitter got elected
Christopher John wasn't perfect, but gosh, 100% better than Vitter. Arthur Morrell and all of the others that ran should have been forced to pull out, just so John and Vitter could have slugged it out.

Christopher John would have probably won in a run-off.

I hate Vitter, I hate him even MORE now he voted in lock-step with the other Fascist thugs.

8. Heck
Vitter's so smarmy and he's got baggage. But some people will but a glass bottomed boat.

Christopher John has two BEAUTIFUL children. I still think we must never field more than one Democratic candidate against these thugs, because Morrell and the rest did water down the Democratic vote.

10. Dems held back their money until the runoff, Vitter put it all on Nov 2nd
Heavy turnout in a red state like Louisiana was what Vitter needed to go over the top. That turnout would not have happened in a runoff, which would've probably put Chris John over the top Thus, Vitter put everything on November 2nd and the dems assumed that there was no chance in hell that he could win without a runoff. One percentage point difference, and they would've been right.

3. Al Franken just called him
a 'chicken thing', and pointed out his no-vote on the Katrina independent commission.
'He didn't have the courage to vote'.

All other Republicans voted against, a solid block, indicating as Franken says that they are nothing but a rubber stamps for the White House.

11. Nagin or Melancon should challenge his ass next time
Both would be very formidable opponents. I think actually, that Nagin should run for congress (assuming that Bill Jefferson has to step down in embarassment), but with all that has been going on, he will look like an opportunist if he tries to seek higher office.

12. No, No, No! I want Charlie to stay my Congressman!
I have spent some time with him over the last two weeks, and I love this man more and more each time I see him! You should have seen him work his butt off in the lower parishes....traveling by boat rescuing people and helping to clean up. He was here last Wednesday and took time at our town hall meeting to meet with each and every one of the New Orleans evacuees that came to the meeting. This man has more compassion in his little toe than that scum Billy Tauzin ever had in his whole body. It makes me shudder every time I remember that Charlie only won by 500 votes over "Little Billy Tauzin". Charlie is a saint, and I won't let him go easily!:)

13. Well here's some good news...
According his re-election website, he's out-polling his best potential challenger (Craig Romero) by 24 points and I believe his approval rating is in the 60's.

I remember when he won and I was pretty happy about it. Melancon totally put Billy in his place. I remember when Romero and Tauzin were trying to outdo each other about basically who was the bigger fascist and I was thinking to myself "I REALLY hope that the people of the 3rd district won't fall for that shit". Sure enough they didn't and both of those jokers lost. It didn't totally get me over the 2004 election, but it certainly helped.

He's not my congressman (unfortunately Bobby Jindal is), but I live close enough to the New Orleans suburbs in the third district that I will do some campaigning for him next year if I haven't moved.

14. Word on the street is that Vitter is thinking about challenging Blanco
It's no secret that Vitter one day hopes to be President. (AGHHHHHHH!)
He feels he can't run for Pres. though until he has a position like Governor to make his case on. Watch for Vitter's moves soon. He wants to be at the center of New Orleans reconstruction so he can say HE led the rebuilding efforts, not Kathleen. If this happens, I have to believe that Jindal will run for Vitter's seat. I could see the Democrats pushing Charlie to run in this scenario. He is the strongest Dem they have got right now. Romero is our "hometown guy" and I've been around him enough to know he is an absolute sleaze. He will sell his soul to the right bidder. His campaign is being run by a GOP firm out of Washington. I haven't heard anything about "Little Billy" but as soon as he starts sticking his ugly head up around here I'll let you know.
