Something BR and Laf residents can do

Just rec'd this email thru the yahoo Dem Meet-up Group:

Dear Friends,

In the days since Monday's hurricane, everyday citizens and non-governmental
organizations have been the true leaders of the relief effort. In
communities throughout the affected area, these grassroots efforts are
saving lives.

Among these many efforts, I am passing along information for two efforts in
particular that require your assistance. For each, contact information is
provided if you have any questions or can assist. As other opportunities
arise, I will pass them along.

Best wishes to you and yours during this trying time.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Thomas

SLEEPING QUARTERS FOR VOLUNTEER NURSES

Service Employees International Union (SEIU) needs your help to secure
sleeping arrangements for nurses from Illinois who will volunteering in

The nurses will be coming to Louisiana and working in one week shifts

shelter for the majority of each day. Therefore, bed space will only be
needed a few hours each day.

If you, your church, or civic organization can provide sleeping space for
one or more of these nurses, or if you have any additional questions, please
contact Chad Ikerd at seiuhealthcareworkers@gmail.com.

Please provide the following information:

* Your location.
* The number of beds available.
* When are the beds available.
* Phone number or email of person(s) donating sleeping space.

1. thanks
You rock w/ your level of activism.

I am passing this on to my wife b/c I am going to be out of pocket for days/weeks at a time and she'll have to coordinate it. But I spoke w/ her on the phone and she's eager to help.

Thanks again for the notice and all you've been doing.

Peace,

K
