I think the title is self explanatory.

Feedback and info sought from anyone with reliable poop from either outside media or inside.

I'm getting everything I can off of NOLA.com, WWL and WDSU.

2. One of the best blogs I've seen yet

quite possibly THE best.

I particularly liked the piece about "the bricks", and about the Vietnamese community in east N.O. I'm presently in Honolulu, a place where the parallels to N.O. are palpable: experience with monarchy before being annexed to the U.S., a unique culture and way of life that has drawn devotees around the world (there are hula halau in Japan), ordinary supermarket items that are impossible to find anywhere else (saimin noodles, Zippy's frozen chili), even a disdain for boring directions like "north" and "east" (ours are: makai = river, mauka = lake, 'Ewa = uptown and Diamond Head = downtown).

And of course, various Asian groups occupy roughly the same place in our society as the African and Caribbean people do in N.O., save that many have prospered since WWII. And so, it seems to me that an Asian (largely Vietnamese) community could be a definite asset to the New New Orleans.

As to "the bricks", suffice it to say that I connected with the progressive movement in N.O. one night wihile waiting for a bus on N. Rampart after a demo. Some of the other people saw me and said, "Don't wait there, it's too dangerous! Come with us", and so I did. To think that I owe several years of kick-ass activism (early '90s) to a combination of crappy RTA service and a horrendous crime rate!

edit: I'm trying to track down my Blogger ID so that I can join in. I had "Pundits in Paradise" under the name Pacific News Desk. Is that the same as the Blogger ID?
