Republican candidate for State House arrested in Wichita.

Jan Beemer, the Republican candidate for the 86th District of the Kansas House of Representatives, was arrested Wednesday night for driving with a suspended license after she was pulled over for speeding on West 21st Street.

Beemer's license had been suspended because of an outstanding ticket she received in August for a broken brake light. She was required to repair the light on her 1993 Volvo station wagon within 10 days.

She is one of the crazy "religious" types, She ran last time and only lost by 67 votes. Rep. Judy Loganbill is her opponent and is one of the most progressive voices in the State House. She has been my rep for many years too and a good friend. This couldn't have happened to a crazier, more deserving Republican. :)

1. Hope Voters Read the Newspaper

I hope the voters learn about the arrest. I know at least one voter who read about it - I put a Loganbill sign in his yard today, and he talked about the newspaper story. What was amazing about the news story is that Beemer admitted receiving the letter about her failure to satisfy the fine, but she didn't bother to open it. Yea, right. Someone who seeks office as a lawmaker, but they don't open a letter from the Kansas Dept. of Revenue or the Wichita Municipal Court?
