Sunday morning roll call!!
Man I have a busy day ahead so I am taking attendance early.

KEC meeting in Johnson County 1:00 this afternoon
http://www.kansasequalitycoalition.org/

Fundraiser for Nancy Boyda in Lawrence

Regular peace protest at Nichols Fountain 4:00 to 5:00

I am going to try to attend all 3 events. Can I take reservations for anyone?

BTW, no area DUer may sit on their ass today and do nothing. It's time to change the world and we are starting right here in the heartland!!

(evl has an excused absence since he has to paint his house.)

Let's roll, people!!!!!!

1. You are going to be at the KEC meeting
for sure?!!!? YAY! They had a wonderful strategy session yesterday that I had to miss because of a concert but I got the report late last night and it looked very productive, just what we needed. I am so excited! We also have 2 groups interested in becoming chapters soon, that will put us up to 8 state wide. Onward and upward, as you say it is time to change the world.

I am just hoping the Boyda deal does not get rained out. We will be late but we will be there (if Mabus gave me good directions that is ;)).

2. Yes I am going
It is a 5 minute drive from my house.

I will be late to Rex's too. It is kinda hard to find. Be sure to take Rex's number with you and call for help if you get lost. (I had to do that - :) )

I am going to The Plaza first. They are having a program in addition to the regular weekly protest from 4 to 5. I guess I will skip that. But I HAVE to do my protest. It has become like a religion with me. And after being at Camp Casey last week, I want to protest evey day now. I know YOU can relate to that.

So will you still at the Boyda thing at 6:00? I probably can't get there before then.

3. Sure.
We usually don't stop our meetings until 4, I know they are long but there is so much to do, then there is a little bringing up of loose ends with people as you leave and a little schmoozing. I would guess we won't be out of there any earlier than 4:30 then off the Rex's. I have his number and will have 2 people with me to navigate (you and DancingBear of all people know I need a navigator) so we will be fine. I doubt we leave by 6:00 unless the weather is threatening. Call me before you leave and I can give you a run down about the weather, it might get iffy around here.

5. Since I am fairly new I may have a stupid question: Why Such Late Notice?
We were in Wichita yesterday. It costs us $30 rt now to go. We can stay the night at friends if we deem it necessary. We were at a semi-monthly planning session at the Peace House, went to the mineral show at CAC, saw 'Thank You for Smoking,' grocery shopped, visited friend and drove home. We try to pack it in. No one at the Peace Center mentioned the reception, and they are all progressives, and probably registered dems, and I never received anything in my email from all the various progressive groups/listserves I am on.

Shouldn't things like this show up before the morning of the meeting? Even if we couldn't go we could have given $5 to someone who would to offset the $25 admission (was their a sliding scale offered?).

Thanks, and I really mean that, for posting this, BU, or I might have thought I was more in the loop! How can we effectively 'network' without information!

peace,

Hannah Johns

7. I guess not! but anyway it should have be a heads up on other lists
I am trying to go back and forth between my active and sleeping listservs and forums, and make sure stuff gets out there. Those of us here, who stay abreast of things don't hear about some good stuff, and those, like my friend in Mulvane, without a computer, and just the local papers and local tv, get NOTHING. It just hit me yesterday, as she said she had heard nothing about Easter Camp Casey (unfortunately I had left her out of my loop....I feel bad) and may have been able to go! She is doing a Take Back the Night walk this week, but was unaware of another event in Wichita next Friday.

Remember when we had to do all the organizing by phone trees (or in our alternative school- phone circles- which work better)? Maybe we will have to do that again to encourage the non-internet junkies to participate!!

I will go and get on the mailing list. I am on so many, but what is one more. This still should have been posted somewhere before today.

thanks, anne- hope you all are having a good day! "It is a good day to Protest" to borrow a phrase.

Hannah

9. It was a wonderful day!
I started out at the KEC board meeting. Then I went to our regular weekly protest and talked to two people who want me to do a slide presentation about Camp Casey for their groups (The Iraq Task Force and AFSC). Then I went up to Lawrence for the Nancy Boyda party.

It was an absolutely wonderful day. I am very impressed with Nancy Boyda.

8. I Shoulda Posted Earlier
You are right, Hannah. I should have said something sooner. Sometimes I forget that there are a few Wichitans or southern Kansans on DU. Any DUer who would like to receive email notices of events down here direct from the Sedgwick County Demo. Party should send a request to add your email address to the network - email the Executive Director Jason Dilts at jdilts@sedgwickcountydemocrats.com There is also a website at www.sedgwickcountydemocrats.com with a campaign calendar.

12. Wichita dems
Is that you, Jason?

You can email me through yahoo at wildcat _ creek no spaces though
same address I have had for awhile.

I am on the KS progressives list and would be getting things that way to.

The handful of Elk Co Dems and progressives need patrick and I to show them what we have been up to, protesting, camp casey, etc. I am still hopeful people will come out of their trance state here one day.

My philosophy on all boards I am on on the internet is that there is at least one person who might want to get an update on things.

Were you at the walmart movie?

If this isn't jason, stop me now ;-o

13. Not Jason But He Knows Me Well
Jason is the Executive Director of the Sedg. Cty. Democratic Party, but we work together - in fact I just saw him Monday evening. I will get your email address to him. Mabus knows me well also.

11. That's great
You missed a great gathering at Rex's. We met down by the river to delve into issues a little deeper. It is beautiful up there this time of year.

You should try to go to the Sat gathering. Mabus knows someone who may be able to give you a ride.
