Protest Pics from Bush* Speech at KSU *dialup warning*
There were at least 150 protesters; just on the one side of the stadium we had a group of 130 or so at one point. Several people went from the West side to the East but after all the lines had been let into Bramlage we all gathered on the West side to watch the motorcade. There were at least 150 at that point but there's no guarantee how many from the East area left without coming over. Here are a few pictures:

My gorgeous husband who froze his tail off with me:

Our sign, up close and personal:

We we lined up behind barricades where the students walked right past us to get in the doors:

Several people on the other side of the building:

One little girl has it right!

Fred Phelps had only 7 people out, which was lucky for us:

For a dinky Republican Kansas town, we had a nice group:

labeled "Fag Flag." I think it's remarkable that no one attacked them physically.

13. There were probably a dozen or so reporters
from local newspapers/radio stations asking questions and taking comments. A few news cameras but no one from the TV stations doing interviews.
The coverage will, I'm sure, be all the excitement of the military unloading off the buses and how wonderful a speech was given. :puke:

12. The Phelps group
They must summer in Iowa City Iowa because we see those clowns all the time. When they drag their flags on the ground you need to insist that they do the right thing and burn them.
Those Phelps nazis are sad. There is not many things sadder than a 3 year old with a god hates fags sign in his/er hand. I hope they go to a special place in hell.

18. RIGHT ON!
I see several friends from KEC! YAY! You done good! I wish I was there but I did get my lost work done this morning but my internet service is still screwed up.

I missed him coming in this morning because of the fog but about an hour ago the helicopters flew right over my house and since I am on the highest point in the county I went out on my deck and gave him both fingers. I KNOW he saw, I could see them quite well, they were low enough to shake the house.

Thank you so much for the pictures. I think I may know your family, at least your husband looks very familiar. Maybe not, oh well. We will meet soon I hope.

Good JOB!

I'm glad you got your work redone. Good for you giving them the finger! We thought they were going to walk him in straight up the sidwalk across from where we were. But NOOOOOoooooo, they drove him around back so he wouldn't have to be faced with any dissent. Coward!

Do you know any Field or Lowers from Topeka? Chuck Lower (of Lower Heat/Air) is my husband's grandpa. They look identical, except for hair color!

20. KC Star AP article
Protesters expected he would. Outside the coliseum, Phyllis Malone, of Manhattan, a retired mother of seven, said she thought the war was a big mistake, because Bush misled Americans into thinking Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction. She carried a sign saying, "Lies, lies, lies."

"I turned 75 last week, and I figured it was time I did something," she said. "We went into it under false pretenses."

About 100 people lined one walkway into the coliseum, while about 80 lined another; the two groups later joined forces.

"I think the longer it goes on, the less support it's going to have," said Karen Myers-Bowman, a Kansas State associate professor of family studies.

26. I have two comments;
What the hell does 'god is USA's terrorist mean? and

Where were the college students in all this? I go to the local comm coll and last week put up about 50 'impeach bush' posters. Most of those were taken down and I have not heard any talk of them being up from anybody I know there. Apathy and complacency is what most people of that age engage in. Why when I was there age... You know the rest of that story. BTW, I'm about 50. You do the math.

Oh yes, Thanks for doing the protest and thanks for the pictures!

43. The dang Phelps crew
I think are trying to say that God is the only terrorist America needs to worry about, and that He's attacking because we 'allow' homosexuality.

The college kids were walking up the sidwalk directly in front of us. They were all 'so excited' to be seeing a real president. Or so they were quoted in the campus paper last week after tickets became available.

Even the president of KSU young dems said that while he didn't approve of B*** or his policies, he couldn't pass up the opportunity to go because he is still the president and he deserves respect. :puke:

48. The difference between KU and K-State...
is that Bush wouldn't have dared to come to Lawrence. KU Students would have been picketing out the wazoo.

BTW, Al Franken yesterday asked for clarification as to what is "the wazoo." Maybe it should be a synonym for "43rd president of the US."

I live in Topeka and they are at usually 3 different locations at least 3 times a day. I have driven by e groups of them in 15 minutes. It is life here, that is why we have learned that he is best ignored. He wants attention.

He is at every concert I play and used to come to rehearsals as well. He also hit the door to Maya Angelou's car and she said she would never come back here.

47. WHERE IS THE ELITE LIBERAL MEDIA?

We are watching out here in sunny San Diego...

We are watching as Bush wanders around like the proverbial chicken with its head cut off.

But where is this elite liberal media we all hear so much about from the righties? Every other word out of the mouths of the FOX, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC commentators includes the phrase "THE ELITE LIBERAL MEDIA" WTF is that all about? Do they really believe the spin they put out???

I know, it is rhetorical.. The answer is OF COURSE THE BELIEVE IT... They drink the f-ing kool-aide, they bask in the glow of O'Liely's make-up mirror,

They drive their Humvee gas guzzler status symbols while impregnating their teeny little brains with the foul odor of Rush's Red-Speak and then they all buy into the myth that our media is controlled by "Hollywood homo's", "Conspiracy theorist nuts" (the phrase the GOP tosses out to cover all of us Liberals..)

So, if the media is so far to the left, why aren't they covering anything that comes from the left... i.e. ALL OUR DEMONSTRATIONS?

SO I ASK YOU, WHERE IS THIS ELITE LIBERAL MEDIA?
