Taxpayers billed for trip to church event.
http://www.cjonline.com/stories/121605/bre_bacon.shtml

State Board of Education member John Bacon has charged taxpayers for expenses he incurred while attending a church-school sponsored event that featured leaders of the movement to make the Bible the foundation of public life.

"I would encourage any member of the state board, or any public official, to get informed about these issues,” said Bacon, adding that he gained valuable information at the conference last month in McPherson and thought being reimbursed by the state was justified.

Case, who says the founders of the United States were evangelical Christians and that the separation of church and state was a myth, says about 1,200 people attended the conference.

Ahhhhh, I don't even know what to say. Left me speechless it did.

1. Didn't Connie Morris do something like this too?
Went to some convention and charged it to the state?

2. I thought her problem was staying in an expensive hotel and turning
in a lot of questionable receipts (like a receipt for a taxi to the airport that was dated the day before she left). In this case, I think the taxpayers shouldn't be paying a dime for this convention. If he wants to attend religious meetings, he can, but it's not appropriate to bill the state for that.

3. Taxpayers Also Paid for Letters to Supporters
You are correct. Connie Morris not only billed the taxpayers over $3000 (some of which she recently refunded) for the Florida convention and high-dollar hotel, she also used taxpayer funds to send out a rah-rah letter about herself to supporters. I don't think she ever refunded any of these funds. She also accused then-Garden City Mayor Tim Cruz of being an illegal alien, though he is a citizen. He is now running against her.
