1. I was just thinking
I bet there is a bus going. You might want to check with your local Dem party or activist groups. I would just bet that there will be a bus.

3. I would not look forward
to a trip like that unless I was going with people I knew I liked to be around, that would be a long trip. I do not blame you for wanting to fly there.

5. If it wasn't just a weekend I would consider it
I don't relish the idea of a long bus ride on a Friday and then turn around two days later and ride back home.

7. We have a bus and a van from KCMO !!!
The Bus and Van will both leave together at noon on Friday, Sept. 23 and arrive in D.C. Saturday morning. The Bus will leave D.C. late Saturday evening and return to Kansas City on Sunday evening. The cost per seat is $130.

The Van will leave D.C. area on Monday late afternoon and return to Kansas City Tuesday afternoon or evening, Sept. 27. For those who want to save money or who love to camp, I have found a campground in Virginia by a lake that is 8 miles from one of the Rail stations to D.C. They have shaded camp sights, flush toilets, hot/cold showers, and sinks. The cost is about $5 per person per night, or $10 per person, total. There is also a nearby Day’s Inn that costs about $80 per night, so If 2 people share a room the cost for both nights will be about $80 each. As people pay for their tickets, I will find out if they want to camp or share a hotel room. then I will share emails for roommate purposes. The van will leave the campground on Sunday and Monday mornings and swing by the hotel to pick up the hotel people on the way to the Rail station. The cost of the van per seat is $130, which includes rental, gasoline, and sandwich stuff and snacks for the trip to and from D.C. Each person will need to bring some cash for the Rail into D.C. (I would approx. $15) and food for lunches and dinners on Sat, Sun, and Mon.
I don't know where in Kansas you are, but if you are close enough, we would love to have you join us!! :woohoo:

8. September 24 call to action
I can't author post, nor can I pm anyone to ask them to do so. Perhaps someone who posts in both the Kansas and Missouri forums could do so.

September 24 call to action
Saturday, September 24th 2005 4:00
Kansas City, MO USA

For those who are not going to the protest in Washington D.C., join us for a protest march at 4:00 PM on September 24. We will be marching from the intersection of Westport Rd and Broadway to the military recruiting office at 39th street an Main. This protest should not only bring up questions about the Iraq war and Bush's handling of it, but should also include opposition to the capitalist machine and why there will alway be poverty within it. After all, it is, for the most part, the poor who are dying, not just in Iraq, but those starving in Africa, those oppressed in South America and Mexico, ect, and it is the world leaders and governments who are allowing this to happen. (if anyone would like to bring a bullhorn so there can be speeches, please do so.)

Location:
the intersection of Westport Rd and Broadway Kansas City MO
