So I walk into the Republican state convention wearing my "Worst

President Ever" shirt. Most of you have seen it.
I don't know my way around Des Moines, so when we finally got off the ever-under-construction 235 and found a convention center we pulled into the parking lot ($6) and unloaded our stuff and hoofed the two blocks to the door. My wife is handicapped,so it was a real effort for her.
We noticed that many of the folks going in were wearing suits and /or ties, nice dresses etc. I cammented that this didn't look like the usual Democratic crowd.
Got to the door and in a small sign it said "2006 Republican State convention". Boy was I surprised! There were three people behind us and said very loudly "Boy we're in the wrong goddamned place." Someone asked me why and I said "Read my shirt- you think I belong here?" To which he replied "Yeah - Bush is terrible".
I left my wife by the door wearing her brand new "Stop the Nussle Hussle" shirt we'd just made, while I went back to the car proudly making sure everyone I passed saw my shirt. I got three comments that it was a "Good Shirt".
The wife had several stares but no comments. She got in and we rode away with yet another story to tell the children.

I thought about trekking over there myself, just for the hell of it, but didn't. I'm glad someone actually did, even if it was unintentional!

Apparently many of us small towners did the same thing. Many of the people I told my story to had gone to the WellsFargo arena first.
They sure were dressed fancier than us'ns.

in a crowd. Or even at a regressive convention.
Did you read my wife's Nussle shirt? We just made those Friday and then Vilsack went up and did a bunch of selling for us.

If you didn't it looks like this:
on the front is a picture of Nussle with his hand out sitting in the state capital. He is handing a wad of cash to 'mister moneybags'. On top it there is a bright red "STOP" sign. Under the picture is the words "NUSSLE HUSSLE"
On the back it says "Robbing from the poor and giving to the rich since 1991"
Below that "Government by the incompetent for the rich"

8. When my husband was running for office

One of his staff members spoke on his behalf at one of the County Conventions (this was her first time speaking and she was nervous as hell) She got there a little late and started in right away talking about why she joined the campaign and why she believed in him and asked for their support. Someone in the crowd thanked her and then informed her that she was at the republican convention!! :wow: She thanked them for not throwing anything and high-tailed it out of there :P waiting until Monday to tell us what had happened! :rofl:
