Okay Now....Who didn't vote for Vilsack?????

Vilsack fourth in presidential poll
Edwards, Clinton top Democratic choices for president in 2008

Former U.S. Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina leads a list of potential Democratic presidential candidates while Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack holds fourth place, trailing Edwards by 20 points in an early test of support among likely Iowa caucus participants.

A new Iowa Poll conducted for The Des Moines Register shows that Edwards, the runner-up in the Iowa Democratic caucuses two years ago and a frequent visitor to the state since then, is the choice of 30 percent of Iowans who say they are likely to take part in the January 2008 caucuses.

U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York follows on Edwards' heels with 26 percent in the Iowa Poll.

1. Maybe the question should be - who did vote for Vilsack?
;-)

I want a contested Iowa caucus. I sure don't want candidates skipping it and just assuming Vilsack would win.

This is good news.:)

Plus it is the first poll that doesn't show a coronation for Hillary - more good news to me. :)

2. Vilsack has been trying to kill the Iowa Caucuses in order to
get ahead in the '08 race. Guess now he REALLY wants to get rid of them!!!

3. I am with the rest of the really-smart 2%....
That voted for Wes Clark.

It's pretty disappointing, but given his lack of campaigning in Iowa in 04 (unlike Edwards and Kerry), his lack of national spotlight attention (unlike like Hillary), being the current Governor (unlike Vilsack), or really making effort to distinguish himself as a 2008 contender...2% isn't all that bad.

When we get past November and the candidates truly start declaring, and start eating corn, kissing babies, and wearing flannel here in Iowa, I think these numbers will change!

4. Um, you forgot porkchops on a stick and deep-fat fried Twinkies!
You know, this poll was taken at the same time as the Gov. poll was. The Register staff had to see the writing on the wall for Blouin w/the results of this poll for Vilsack

5. Feingold fan here
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 12:52 PM by pstans
Polls like these are largely based on name recogntion, so it isn't surprising to see Feingold at just 3%. 56% of the people polled had no opinion of Feingold. Feingold has made just 1 trip to Iowa so far. He needs to start visiting more often to get that name recognition up.

Edwards is making his 9th trip to the state this week since the 2004 election. Those trips have paid off.

Only 30% of the people polled had no opinion of Clark. That can't be so good.

Check out this site to see who had been visiting Iowa:

6. Cool link...
Thanks for the link...I've added it to my favorites and will be interested to see those numbers grow as the year progresses.

Feingold would make a great candidate, and if Clark decides not to run I would most likely support his candidacy.

7. I think this means we're all tired of Vilsack . . .
I hope he gets the hint and goes with his Plan "B" career choice after governor. But probably not. Vilsack thinks he is always the smartest guy in the room and he usually is, but the downside is that he never listens to anyone. So I guess we'll all go through the painful process of the 2008 Caucuses and have him come in sixth or seventh and then throw a snit.

9. My husband says Vilsack insures he's the smartest guy in the room
by going in alone and locking the door behind himself! :wow:

Vilsack has the bad management habit of making sure he does not surround himself with people who may be smarter (yes-people who's only comments are 'you're right boss' don't make for sound advise).

Oh, well, he's ours for another six months
