Estephanie Izaquirre: anyone else following this story?
For those who don't know: Estephanie is an 18-year-old, parentless immigrant from Honduras who received an email from Des Moines immigration officials to come downtown and complete paperwork (for her green card). When she arrived, however, a deportation officer arrest her and tossed her in jail. This happened in early June, two days after her 18th birthday and 5 days after her graduation from East High in Des Moines.

I'm curious as to the reaction from Iowa Latino communities. Surely they are as upset as I am about this news... especially the 'trickery' involved in her arrest.

I am sure there is a group out there chortling 'rule of law'. Keep us updated.
