Gluba undermining District One?
In the QC Times I see that Gluba is upset by the election results and is pondering a bid in November as an independent. How could one be so selfish? This isn't about Gluba, this is about taking back our country from fundamentalists. Come on Mr. Gluba, put your hurt feelings aside for the betterment of our country.

1. Hopefully
he's just expressing some frustrations after having lost.

3. I am on his email list
And I emailed him to let him know that he is just being selfish and I will not support him, even though I voted for him yesterday. Braley is the nominee and he deserves all of our resources behind him.

8. Bluzmann, you have been a class act through all of this
And frankly, I was positive Gluba would take Scott/Clinton/Jones counties making it a heck of a race for Braley/Dickinson. Gluba needs to be an ambassador for Braley in Scott County and help wrestle the sear away from the republicans.

13. Ah...thank you Debi
In my opinion, Gluba is an old fashioned politician in the Hubert Humphrey style and that's not a bad thing, but it's time for change. Shallow as it sounds, I think Braley will relate to younger people more than either Gluba or Dickinson. And a few older Gluba supporters I talked to last night indicated that they are going full bore for Braley. I just hope he shows up in Scott County a bit more than he did in the run up to the primary. It'll be tough enough here with Whalen being a local guy. Braley needs to actually show up here and not send his reps all the time.

4. Oh, MAN
He made the comment that the DCCC wasn't helping him when he did his announcement swing. (He said they hadn't called him but he knew that they'd talked w/Braley - I told him that was because Braley CALLED THEM!) Unless someone can prove otherwise, the DCCC stayed completely out of this race and Gluba is blowing smoke.

If he attempts a run as an Independent it will completely blow any respect I have for him - He claimed to be a Democrat (and served as a Dem. in many elected positions) He ran as a Democrat. He embraced (the majority) of the Democratic philosophy and platform. NOW He wants to run as an Independent? What did he say about Denny Heath running as an Independent in 2004?

Man, this behavior is NO GOOD!!!

5. Sour Grapes Gluba...
I supported him against Nussle, and I was happy to see him active this year, but he needs to think of his state.

7. At the very least think of the District - Scott County has been under
republican control for alomost as long as I have been alive. Doesn't Gluba want a Democrat in charge?

11. Man, I hope that's not it
This isn't the first race he's lost. He just HAS to suck it up.

9. Let us hope he thinks it over a couple days and backs off
I can imagine he was voicing somthing that comes from many years of coming close, but not quite reaching the brass ring.
What I know of Gluba I like. Hope he doesn't tarnish a fine reputation with such a selfish act.

12. I hope so too
Even with our VERY BIG difference on respect for women's rights he has always been pleasant to me (and I have done the same toward him). I'd hate to see him end in such a rotten manner (Like Denny Heath did in 2004 - and Bill was not very happy with Denny about it).

14. Right...
And what the hell makes him think he'll win as an indie when he can't win a Democratic primary?

15. I love Bill!!
But I'm hoping it is just sheer frustration talking and that Bill really won't try to run.

16. Even his saying it hurts Braley
It's been in the QC Times - the Waterloo/CF Courier and The Des Moines Register.

Instead of talking about the nominee everyone is talking about poor Bill Gluba.

Everybody knows a newly minted nominee only gets one bite at the 'Fresh Off the Primary' press-burst apple and Gluba is taking it away with his pity party. :grr:

Dix isn't whining, Kennedy isn't whining (none of the other primary candidates are whining). Only Gluba. This is what he'll be remembered for.

Yuck.
