Correspondence from Nussle re: State of the Union tshirts issue
I called Nussle's office the day after the State of the Union message, aka, the freak show, and commented about Cindy Sheehan getting arrested and Mrs. Young merely getting asked to leave. It seems that our Mr. Nussle is trying to change history a bit. This is the critical third paragraph of the letter he sent me via snail mail.
"According to House custom, the annual address given by the president is to be a dignified affair in which the president reports on the state of the nation. Therefore, guests seated in the House Gallery wearing articles of clothing deemed political in nature have been asked to remove or cover the item of clothing. BOTH MRS. YOUNG AND MRS. SHEEHAN WERE CHARGED WITH UNLAWFUL CONDUCT for their inappropriate manner of dress, but charges have since been dropped by the United States Attorney's office."
Ok, the dignified affair, etc. I can agree with, but the comment about both women being charged with unlawful conduct I can't. Not one news service, mainstream or not mentioned anything about Mrs. Nelson being arrested like Ms. Sheehan was. Not one. Not even Drudge and dreck like that. Therefore, the conclusion I draw is that Nussle is a liar. He is lieing for his master bush and should not be Governor of our great state.

2. The wearing of tshirts isn't the real issue
The real issue is that Nussle lied and I have it in writing. He said Cindy Sheehan and Mrs. Nelson both got arrested and charged. That is not true. Only Cindy Sheehan got arrested. That's the issue. He lied and people need to know it.

3. I would write him back
Do a google search on Mrs. Young. Print out an article that she was NOT charged and just asked to leave. Send it out Mr. Slimeball Nussle.

5. Good grief! Don't hold back
Tell us what you really think. I have the aforementioned letter in my possession and am going to try and confront him with it should he be the republican nominee for Gov.

7. An update
Edited on Tue Feb-14-06 10:46 AM by Bluzmann57
Nussle, or most likely, his people, sent me an update about this story. In it, he says that Mrs. Nelson didn't get arrested and Ms. Sheehan did, but charges were dropped. So they got it straight after three days. Wonder if they read DU at all? We knew the whole friggin' time what the truth was.

12. Sore Loser?
You mean Sore about losing the surplus that we had in the Clinton years thanks to dipshit Nussle's budgets? Then I'm a Sore Loser! Sore about losing funding for ALL education but especially IDEA funding? Yes, I'm a Sore Loser. Sore because that ass continues to rape our state (and the country) in order to look good and get his head patted by his millionaire buddies? How many millionaires are there in the first district that can afford to NOT have the BASIC GOVERNMENT SERVICES? How many counties and cities are supposed to pick up Jim Nussle's slack? Yeah, I'm a Sore Loser. And if you aren't just as angry, you have not been paying attention for the last 15 years! :grr:

BTW, welcome to DU and the Iowa Forum :hi:

11. Welcome to DU, ldeveries02 !!!!
Just heard Judge was dropping out. Looks like the race will be Culver/ Blouin. I will continue to support Fallon because I think that public campaign financing is probably the single most important overarching issue. Hopefully there will be enough votes for Fallon that this gets a hearing.

14. I hope that no matter who the Democratic nominee is
that we get him elected and then lobby like hell to get some REAL CAMPAIGN FINANCE laws in place. Just think where all this money could be going instead of to ads and mailings and ads and mailings and....you get the picture. :7

13. Ha ha, now that's really funny,
No, really. Except I'm from Iowa and I'm a donor to Chet Culver's campaign, and so are several others. Many of the out of state donors are former Iowans or friends and family of the Culvers, I guess they're not allowed to support a person they love and respect? That's just a classless statement.
