I got an email from David saying that he got a $5,000 check from the Plumbers Intl yesterday.
Sounds like things are running smoothly, but he can use all the money he can raise to beat the double-talking Leach. Some further updates from an email below:

Pass the e-hat: Let's give ourselves a great holiday gift!
An important reporting deadline is coming up, and David needs our help NOW. The more money we raise before December 31, the more support our campaign will be able to get outside the district.
Every dollar counts! Even a gift as small as $5 or $10 will help us build a strong campaign.
Please give whatever you can through our Web site at
https://www.loebsackforcongress.org/contribute.asp And pass this message along to encourage everyone you know to help us fight for the Second District!
Wishing you all the best during the holidays and the year ahead,

CEDAR RAPIDS—Congressional candidate David Loebsack decried President George Bush’s authorization of surveillance on the private communication of many American citizens— including many anti-war activists—and called on his opponent Jim Leach (R-IA2) to explain his support for such surveillance.
Bush has defended the wiretapping and electronic monitoring, revealed last week by the New York Times, as legal under the USA PATRIOT Act. Also last week, Leach voted to extend the act despite bipartisan concerns about the act’s provisions that are in violation of American’s fundamental civil rights. The extension was squashed in the Senate, where Republicans joined Democrats in opposing the renewal because of several provisions that allow law enforcement agencies unprecedented latitude in spying on citizens.
Loebsack called the Bush surveillance “extremely concerning,” and “Nixon-esque,” and said Leach owed his constituents an explanation for his support of such tactics.
“The Patriot Act has shown that it can and has resulted in the kind of surveilance that is unconscionable and umconstitutional,” Loebsack said. “It tramples on those same Constitutional rights that make this country what it is, and it doesn’t make us any safer.”
“By voting to extend the Patriot Act without addressing these concerns, Jim Leach is giving his consent to a potential wholesale violation of our Civil Rights,” Loebsack said. "He must answer for that.”
