Braley fundraising artice in QC Times
http://www.qctimes.net/articles/2005/11/14/news/local/doc437823cc8cff5733506193.txt

Someone, somewhere is scared of Braley and his fundraising abilities.
People are going to have their fundraising bases, it appears that lawyers are Braley's fundraising base.
The GOP should be freightened, and we can tell Braley's fundraising numbers are certainly not empowering to the GOP either.
Does anyone know if consumer data or something else could give an impression of how people in Iowa feel about trial lawyers?

1. Being married to one I happen to think they're great....I may be biased
Braley has served as the President of the Iowa Trial Lawyers Association and still sits on it's Board of Governors, no small task. He has earned a position of respect among his peers and that has translated into contributions from Trial Lawyers across the United States.

I would expect the same if Braley had any other career and was well respected in his life-long pursuit. Let's look at all the other candidates and what their chosen fields are. Are they receiving as much support from their peers as Braley is from his? If not, why not?

The money spends the same no matter where it comes from, we should be happy that our Democratic candidates are receiving so much more than the republicans at this point in the race.

2. Doug Gross is a lawyer
Did he get as much support from his colleagues?

3. republicans are a different breed when it comes to lawyers
It seems to them becoming a lawyer is a means to an end. (They go to law school to then advise corporations or banks or just to run for office or serve on the conservative bench). You don't see very many republican trial lawyers. Because of that I don't believe Doug Gross was a member of the Trial Lawyers organization, so probably didn't receive many contributions from them. Maybe he was a member of the Federalist Society ala John Roberts and Karl Rove? That's more his style.

I'll assume that you weren't trying to put Doug Gross and Bruce Braley on the same team because they both have law degrees? In that case Jim Nussle would be with them as well....as he states, he's a 'recovering lawyer'.
