BREAKING: Tigers dominate again, 52-20
Edited on Tue Nov-08-05 12:11 PM by Debi
CEDAR FALLS -- The UNI-Dome's carpet looked rockier than a neglected country road anytime Cedar Rapids Kennedy tried to flag down the football early Wednesday night.

That meant smooth sailing for Cedar Falls.

Making the most of five first-half Cougar turnovers, the Tigers advanced to the semifinals of the Class 4A football playoffs with a 52-20 rout in quarterfinal action here.

1. Lol
I was wondering how long it would take to hear about that. I watched the highlights last night...boy was Kennedy lookin bad. Those two kick return fumbles were ridiculous! Poor kids.

Good luck over Davenport Assumption

2. We stayed for the WHOLE GAME!!! Got home at 12:00 AM
Poor Kennedy. Two fumbles in the first two kick returns. (we thought the CF game plan was just to not let their offense on the field).

They kept their composure throughout the entire game and really did play well (I think there were only two or three kick returns where they didn't fumble the ball or fall down before catching the ball - just not their night)- unlike Washington who started playing a little dirty as they got frustrated by the end of the game. CF was not perfect, we were lucky a few times because of fumbles right at or right before the goal line to give us the ball back. Was a very fast paced game!

You worry about a Cinderella team like Assumption, they could come out swinging!

Anyone looking for fun Friday night - head the the UNI Dome for some kick-ass high school football!

Anyone from Des Moines coming up? West Des Moines Valley vs Dowling (I think)...ohhhhh rivalry!! :grr:

3. Go to Cedar Falls for Ass high?
Not a chance. They are a Catholic school which (allegedly) recruits players. They are not well liked by us public school grads. Now if it was Pleasant Valley, that would be another matter altogether.

So, who do we want in the Des Moines play-off....(so Cedar Falls can take STATE!!!)

5. PV Rich kids?
Sorta, but when I went there it was us white trash people and a few rich white boys. There were some interesting gym classes. The district has changed a lot, in that there has been a migration from Davenport to PV District, but believe me, it ain't all rich folks. I used to live in LeClaire and there are still a lot of middle class working class heroes out there.

6. Cool, I think I got that impression b/c I felt that Bettendorf folks
had more money than Davenport and PV had even more than Bettendorf. Thanks for the correction.

I love LeClaire! It is so beautiful! I would live there in a heartbeat if I wasn't so attached to my son and husband ;)

So, you still gonna cheer for the Tigers?

7. Well I see that Ass High went down
As earlier stated, I have no use for that Catholic School that (allegedly) recruits and has some of the most unruly fans ever, but wasn't it sort of a home game for Cedar Falls? I mean the fans must have been majority Cedar Falls people. Ah well, I guess that if any team is going to win, they just have to play better.

8. Assumption fans were well organized, all dressed in red
and had practiced cheers w/their cheerleaders AND they brought some of their band!

Fun game, glad we took it!

Friday night, CF Tigers vs WDes Moines Valley Tigers...ROAR

(It's kind of Home game because the Dome is in CF, but all the fans we've seen in the play offs travel well - no shortage there).
