Word on congressional fundraising?
So I contributed $10 to the Braley campaign on Sep. 30. Did anyone else make any last minute contributions you're willing to divulge? Further, what are the rumors or straight word from the campaigns on their third quarter fundraising?

1. Almost
I almost did, but am not in the best financial times right now since I am student teaching. Student teaching sucks financially because I not only don't get paid, but I have to pay to do it. :eyes:

2. Loebsack sent an appeal for $30 - one $ for each year of Leach
Seemed reasonable although times are tight here also. @ more years of Leach seems unthinkable, watching him support Bush while talking integrity. Integrity means vote the same way ya' talk, Jim. C.mon Loebsack!!!

3. I will probably send Loebsak some $ in the spring
Once I am graduated and making some money. I am not in his district, but used to live in Iowa City and think Leach should be beat.

6. I sent Loebsack $50
I had anticipated sending $100 but I gave some for hurricane relief and had a few other things come up that made me re-think my contribution.

I am positive it will not be the last!

Even if Loebsack isn't in your district, please contribute. He has the passion and the intelligence to beat Leach, returning some respect to the 2nd District!

7. Loebsack
I have been giving quite a bit to Braley so far. This time I gave to Loebsack. He is quite the candidate - I have gotten several personal emails from him. I didn't expect that. I have been very, very impressed with him.

I read his bio on his website. If, err when, he is elected, perhaps he could be a cabinet member in the next administration to help America get its good reputation back in the world. We just need to get him to DC first.

8. I gave to David Loebsack...
I gave a whopping $10 to David Loebsack Friday afternoon...and then I saw him marching in the Iowa Homecoming parade a few hours later, and he came over, shook my hand and thanked me for my contribution. LOL! It must be true that every little bit counts! :)

p.s. - there were a few college republicans in the parade (with "Bush is my Homeboy" t-shirts, of all things) - no reaction from the crowd. When the Democrats marched by, however, they were met with lots of cheering. wOOt!

19. thanks pstans
I've actually been here since May 2004, but I mostly lurk. I don't usually have much to say (which is the opposite of how I am in real life). :D

9. I coughed up $200.00 to Loebsack
He did so much for my husband in the past.

Since the first district is in a primary we'll wait until June to contribute.

10. 1st District
I am so excited to see the 1st district candidates on Thursday (if I can get out of my meeting)!

I don't really even know enough about them to be prejudicial, so it will be fun forming my first impressions. I am trying to hold off reading their websites until I meet them the first time.

15. David Overby
http://www.overbyforcongress.org/

but he doesn't seem to be getting much traction.

Still seems to be shaping up as a race between Dickinson and Braley....October 15th will be very telling

16. Overby
I don't know much about him, but I liked this quote off his website:

“I have served my country honorably and reasonably honestly, and now apply the freedom of speech for which I fought, to kindly ask the megalomanic in the White House to order U.S. troops out of Iraq.”

I love that "reasonably honestly". I wonder that that is about?
