I'm sitting here in Minnesota being happy we're one of the 7 states that allows voters to register the day of elections. I think that's going to be a huge advantage for Kerry as a lot of "anybody but Bush" people aren't registered and won't look into it until it's too late ... the only time it's too late in MN is when the polls close.
So how could I help get people registered in IA? As I understand it, the deadline is two weeks before election day - close enough to the election to get tangentially politically aware people excited about knocking Bush back to Crawford.
I think I'd have fun helping people register while wearing a "I chose Iowa for my vacation to help Iowa send Bush on a permanent vacation" tee-shirt.
1. I'll be canvassing in Blackhawk county w/ ACT...
I'll be working mainly in college student neighborhoods and apartment complexes around the University of Northern Iowa. I'm sure if you wanted to help, the ACT field leaders wouldn't turn you away. :)
