Why is Harkin so damned lame all the time?
Now he says we mustn't point fingers about the Katrina disaster. So he is playing the GOP game. We will die of our niceness.

3. I really like Tom Harkin
He has stood up for people's pensions. Right now they are trying to get people to settle for pennies on the dollar with 'cash pensions'. A cash pension is a pennies on the dollar offer for a life time annuity. Congress is now trying to pass a law making these offers retroactively ok.

4. But he should speak up more on other issues
in my opinion. I'd vote for him again but I get frustrated in times like these.

5. I wish I could be as lucky as you Iowans
I'm a nebraskan. I'm listening to Harkin on CSPAN 2 right now, and I may not be a regular watcher of CSPAN, but this is quite possible the most convincing, most traditional Democrat speech I've ever heard.

8. When the pressure is on Harkin usually delivers
but then he falls back into a passive attitude.

Would love it if he were balls out all the time!

6. Remember last year when he called Cheney a "chickenhawk"
and got the wrath of the white house on his head? It's not that he is too nice it's his inconsistency that drives me crazy. One day he's one of the true lights of the Dem party, the next day he's absent.

7. I got a fundraising letter from Harkin and B Sanders on the same day.
I sent back Harkins envelope with a letter telling to act more like B Sanders and i might start sending money again.

9. Tom Harkin is a true friend to working Iowans
Lame? Not in my book. We all make mistakes, but Tom Harkin has been a true friend to working Iowans. Period. He is the force behind the Americans with Disabilities Act that has made America a better place for those of us with physical and other challenges. Tom Harkin is not perfect, none of us are, but he has a HEART!!!!! How many of our other Iowa leaders speak from the heart? How many care about those of us who struggle to pay the bills? Damn few.

Thank you Tom Harkin!!! I don't have money, but I have a voice and a heart and a vote. Tom Harkin gets all three.

10. What he said.
I wasn't a big fan of Harkin's support for Dean..I know I will get no love around here, but I just was NOT as into Dean as most were..

I am not a big fan of the way Harkin rolls over after being one of the toughest barking dogs on the block...

But overall I have to agree with Broke Dad. Harkin is truly a friend of working class Iowans and I (we) really do owe him a lot for all of the work he has done over the years.

Yeah, I wish he was a little more ballsy sometimes, but as a whole I think he is one of the best we could ask for.

12. Oh, sorry..
I was really just more agreeing with his statements than trying to put you on the defense.

As far as Harkin not pushing for a Katrina investigation, I think this one of those times he is rolling over, and I AM disappointed.

I just ready the broke dad and agreed that Harkin is overall a great Senator and thought I would say so.
