Gems from the local paper
Here's some gems from the local paper - the good ol' Dubuque Teabagging Herald.

1. Guy complains about people who don't pay taxes voting.
Here's a LTTE that is complaining about people who don't pay taxes voting.

Some 43 percent of Americans do not pay any income taxes at the federal level. So have we come full circle from "taxation without representation?"

Logic would dictate that this 43 percent not be allowed to vote in federal elections, because their inclination would be to vote for office-seekers who will impose an ever-increasing amount of taxes that would not affect them.

In other words the author is complaining that poor people are being given the right to vote. This ass would probably be right at home in the early years of our Republic when only certain people - namely white men - had any right to vote.

2. They got a new reich winger for the double take feature
Edited on Sun Nov-01-09 12:25 PM by 47of74
I guess the old guy wasn't reich wing enough for their tastes. So now they got this new hard righty;

The Left will moralize about any number of government programs and how "we" need to support them. If a program doesn't work as they intend, it is always because of "greed," or some "ism" (racism, sexism, etc.). Always they say, if only they had more money, they could solve the problem. They don't believe it's possible to help people in need except through a government program. The fact is there are reasonable responses to the needs of some citizens in cooperation with, but not through, government. It will be necessary to consider these cooperative responses if we wish to regain some of the freedom and prosperity we've lost to government.

We are living beyond our means and the government is proposing more and more spending, more and more programs, more and more control over our lives. To use President Obama's term, we are "kicking the can" down the road, but the "can" is a legacy of debt and dependency to our children and grandchildren. Our country is on the Road to Serfdom and there are few exits left. Let's take one.

This guy didn't give a f--k about spending money when his hero Bush was in office.

4. I don't know how much more control any one could exert than to
tell you who you can love.
Or whether you can choose not to be a parent (both birth control and abortion).
Everybody wants to control something they don't like. Repugs want to control your personal life. Dems want to control people from damaging society.
The latter seems to make sense to me.

3. RTL guy attacks Sisters
Now we've got a RTL guy who sent this nastygram into the paper about the Dominican Sisters.

My experience has been that about 99.9 percent of the verbal abuse comes from those who support abortion and is aimed at the pro-lifers. What abortion supporters define as abuse is any attempt to give the women information about what abortions really are or to offer them alternatives to murdering their child.

Yeah. Dry that one out and my dad won't need any fertilizer at all next year.

5. Here's some more of the regular GOP talking points
Here's another opinion piece I found this morning on the good ol' Teabagging Herald. Along with the old dried up cow manure about how we have the greatest health care system in the world.

To remedy many of the shortcomings rather than dismantle the world's greatest health care system, only relatively straightforward changes need be made instead of the proposed massive overhaul. Most importantly they would unleash the free market and allow greater competition among health care providers and lower costs.
