Do Repubs canvass?
Just got back from 3 hours of canvassing for Obama.

I have been canvassing in every election since, I think 1980, and I have NEVER seen a Republican out canvassing. Do they do it?

Just curious...

3. Are you sure they were Republicans?
They might have been Jehovah's Witness or some other religious nuts.

Wait, the only people left in the Republican party are the religious nuts.

7. Two older gentlemen, maybe around 50
And they weren't wearing ties, so not the typical uniform of black pants, white shirt and tie. Probably religious nuts, but they weren't obvious about it. The religious nuts aren't welcome at my door either.

2. couple years ago we had some kids in town that were hanging lit.
I know they do, but not near as much as we at least around here.
And my 4X4 Dem signs usually scare them away from my house.

5. Wanted to add
they paid the kids to do this. They have few volunteers.

10. Correct
When they need support they pay for it. I asked a kid last year how much he got paid to march with the Republican cadre in the Muscatine parade and he looked scared to death. It confirmed my suspicions that the kids were paid to be there.

4. They have AM radio to canvas for them.
I've never seen them but I know they have people planting signs around town. I live on a corner lot and they often stick signs on our "blind" side. I guess they think it's public property or something.

9. Does that explain 53rd Ave in Davenport / Bettendorf?
I'm down in the Quad Cities for work quite a bit and in recent days I've noticed a number of Republican signs cropping up along 53rd avenue in Davenport and Bettendorf. Wonder if the local GOP garrison down there has been hard at work lately?

11. What's going on...
I went down 53rd ave today and nearly all of the McCain signs disappeared. I think I counted one sign on 53rd, and maybe two signs on Devils Glen. I wonder what happened, if they decided to put the signs some place else, are up to dirty tricks of removing signs and accusing Obama supporters of stealing them, or if the property owners objected to having those things on their property? I hope it's the last thing.

6. I thought in 2002 or 2004 the IRP created S.T.O.M.P.
which stood for I don't know what (but I think the last two initials was mobilizing people ) - paid the kids to go door-to-door - they had to wear little polo shirts with the 'STOMP' logo and an elephant on it w/khakis - could see 'em coming from a mile away!

8. Around here, they have a nice, big
and heavily decorated headquarters. Of course, I've never seen it open and I check every other day.

We have a dinky little place, but there is always people there.
