Palin mentions Iowa Chops hockey team

I follow the Iowa Chops of Des Moines on Twitter, and saw this evening that they are all excited about the fact that Sarah Palin mentioned their team.

Oh boy...isn't that such a great honor to be mentioned by her in a speech.

Maybe it's because I'm originally from Western Iowa, and go to the U of IA in Eastern(ish) Iowa, and I don't particularly like hockey, but I have never heard of this team. What league and where are they based out of? And, most importantly, who cares what McFailin says?

They used to be the Iowa Stars. They're based out of Des Moines and play in the American Hockey League. And I sure as heck don't care what Caribou Barbie says about the Iowa Chops or anyone else.

I have heard of the Iowa Stars, but I didn't know they changed their name.

What exactly is the name supposed to stand for? Pork chops?

And should have mentioned the Rough Riders, not the Chops. Nobody knew what the hell she was talking about. This was after she thought she was in Grand Rapids. Dumbass.
