I won't vote for Culver again was the comment..
I was checking out at my local HyVee when the checkout clerk made the following statement as he was scanning some sode/pop cans, "Let hope Culver doesn't get his way about raising the deposit on these cans." I said lets hope not at which he further stated: "You know, I like his dad but he turning out to be someone I'd not vote for again. He's doing many things that I don't believe a democrat should be doing"..

I was rather amazed but had to agree with him..

1. Yeah but...
I cannot imagine what would have happened if Nussle won. I was hoping for Fallon, but I was in Iraq, so didnt have a chance to vote. This time, if he is challenged by a more progressive candidate in a primary, I'll have to debate my support, but if he is up against a Republican, I'll be behind him 100 percent.

2. If the repubs can find a strong candidate
I think that Culver has no chance to win next time around. He has really gotten people angry with the can/bottle proposal and the cigarette tax/smoking ban. But I also find it questionable that the republicans can find a strong candidate.

3. I guess I don't see what the problem is.
Admittedly, I've been a bit lax about following Iowa government actions down here in Louisiana, which I think and hope y'all can forgive me for, but I don't see the problem about raising pop-can deposits.

If you don't like losing more money per can or bottle, there seems to be a very simple solution: return them.

4. Yeah
The Pubs are really spending a lot of money trying to put down these two actions (Smoking ban and Bottle return). I also dont see what the big deal is. I'll be supporting Culver. At least he's putting himself out there and trying to make things better. Many of the republicans are shooting down these Ideas not based on merit, but on the fact they came from the democrats... Its a shame

5. Very true -- and that seems to always be the case.
Also, people knew about Culver's position on cigarettes before the election anyway. He talked about the cigarette tax during the campaign.
