anyone else had this call???
OK I am irritated.

I get this call from the O' campaign... it is slimy salesman type technique.. it kinda goes..
"yeah ms ______, We appreciate your on going support for O and want to make sure you are going to make it to the caucus in Jan."
I was kinda tongue tied and then it hit me and said... uh... never have I supported him at all or given any impression I would support him.

5 mins later... they call again but for my husband!!! ugh.

I was talking about this with some of my friends and family and sure enough they also had a similar call.

I think it is creepy, slimy... it reminds me of a publisher clearing house push, or like those people who pray on the elderly selling coins or something.

1. My guess is they're phishing for you to say who you ARE supporting.
I now refuse to answer when pollsters ask who I'm supporting, and I'd guess I'm not the only one, so I suppose pollsters are developing more aggressive techniques of getting the information.

2. SORRY,
At this stage of the game all of the campaigns are looking to narrow down their focus to their supporters actually attending the caucus. Our First in the Nation caucus doesn't just happen, it's driven by volunteers who are a kaleidescope of the people in our state. On any given day you can find high school students to retired MD's, working side by side making phone calls. Normally activity heightens as we get closer to the caucus date, but with the new January 3rd date, campaigns and their volunteers have a lot of work to do yet and less time to get it done. Have you asked your organizer what their campaign is planning over the Christmas/New Year holiday? Bottom line, that call could have been made by any one of a thousand volunteers from any campaign.

I am sorry you feel so strongly about the tone of the message. In the thousands of phone calls and canvassing for Democratic candidates I've done over the years I've had my share of doors slammed in my face, phones slammed in my ear and lots of name calling (creepy, slimy, people preying on the elderly - rate high on the most hurtful list) but it is the volunteers who really make the caucus happen and there are lots of folks who express their thanks that we are committed and work for our candidate or for taking the time to explain the caucus process.

By the way, I just hate it too when I find your husband's name five spaces down on my list. Technology can't keep up with the pace of Iowa's volunteers and so sometimes our lists are inaccurate.

3. When I get a call from a campaign
even if I'm not a supporter, I always thank them for volunteering. After all, we are on the same side of the aisle.

The only one I was surprised by was a call my hubby got from McCain. The only way that they got his name was from the Amvets. That kind of annoyed me.

7. I understand...
these calls just were odd. I have also been a volunteer and banged doors and called... I do appreciate everything volunteers do. Yet again..it was kinda creepy.

4. That's the call I got from the Tancredo campaign!

Asked if I was going to caucus and then said they had me down as a supporter of Cong. Tancredo. I laughed and said I was undecided :7
