Action Day at the Statehouse
Action Day at the Statehouse

You are invited to participate in a day of "doing justice" on Monday, February 16 (Presidents Day). The day is sponsored by the Interfaith Coalition on Nondiscrimination (ICON) and Indiana Equality. Jesus MCC has always been very active in these events, and we hope to have many of us there. Here are the details:

When: Monday, February 16, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Where: Barnes & Thornburg Auditorium 2, 11 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis. (above Borders, check in with security)
Cost: $10 (includes breakfast and lunch-paid as you enter)

During the morning, experts will brief us on key issues affecting GLBT people in the current legislative session and how to talk to legislators about those issues. At lunch, a panel of legislators will share their perspectives and take questions. Then we will walk over to the Statehouse together and talk to our legislators in small groups.

Insiders consistently tell us that our grass roots presence at the Statehouse is making a huge difference in how GLBT issues are perceived by our legislators. The gift of your presence will really help!

We need your help to influence these important issues in the 2009 Indiana General Assembly:

The Marriage Discrimination Amendment (HJR7, HJR8, SJR15)
Civil Rights (HB1250)
Bias Crimes (SB91)
Hospital Visitation (SB315)
