The third district poll
Edited on Tue Oct-31-06 11:22 AM by INdemo
I think it was published in the Journal GZT. but I read it in the Indy Star and I question the accuracy of this poll.Souder 52% Hayhurst 40%
For one there were only 400 voters polled, the polling was mostly in Allen county and it was financed by the RNCC.
I have a good feeling about this race and I still believe that Tom Hayhurst will win this.If you have seen any of ads Souder has been running (paid for by the RNC) it would certainly appear that the race is much closer.I dont think a candidate(or the RNC) would spend that much on TV and radio ads with a 12% lead..

Note: What the star failed to mention was there is a 5%MO
and 8% undecided

1. That was published in the
evening paper, the News Sentinel, and you're correct - it's a load of crap.

There's simply no way Souder has that much support.

They published a straw poll the other day on the sheriff's race - had the Democrat losing by a HUGE margin. But the straw poll was only for people who had Internet access - doesn't take into account those who don't or those who didn't vote. They had big headlines about that - again, a joke.

The repubs are scared - their candidate has no qualifications to be sheriff. They're pulling out all the stops and attacking the Democratic candidate because she's a lesbian. They can't fault her on her record, her education, or her qualifications, so they bring up the gay boogeyman.

2. I think Hayhurst's ads have been way better than ...
Souter's. And I agree that the polls they have been "pushing" aren't that compelling. Not as compelling as the Repugs would want us to think.

3. Heard on NPR this eve that Pubs are pouring money into this race.
Anyone else know anything about that? They would not be doing that if Souder were up by 12 points. They have too many races to cover to be wasting money where it isn't needed. The political analyst seemed to think that a Dem wave might just take Souder down.

4. You are so correct..I think Souder is in trouble
Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 09:47 AM by INdemo
the polls that I mentioned were RNCC financed..And just to insure their candidate would be shown as leading I believe they were push polls..Now here is something strange..On the local evening news they had a pollster on explaining about how he conducted local polls and the 3rd district was included in that survey..Result's would be given on the 11pm news.
Well the local sheriff's race results were but not the third district as promised..Something strange..
Note:
The pollster was Indiana Research Serivce
700 registered voters were surveyed across the 3rd district not just in Allen County..

5. Is Elkhart County in that district 3?
I was in Goshen last week and saw one big Souder sign. That's it, it may even have been in front of a campaign office for all I know.

6. today's JG says RNCC is paying for phone calls to attack
Hayhurst's stance on immigration. A person getting a call remarked how totally insane it was to get a call saying how bad immigration is from a caller speaking in such a heavy accent as to be almost unintelligible.
