I'm curious if this is truly a law in Indiana or not. (Ouch!)

I'm a minister in Florida and have contacts around the country. I just encountered an officiant who says it is a state law in Indiana that a woman must have a medical exam prior to getting a marriage license, but the man does not. Is this true?!

Never mind. I found it. Sure enough, women under 50 must have this form completed before getting a marriage license. http://usmarriagelaws.com/search/united_states/indiana/premarital_exam_form.pdf

I'm particularly concerned by this line. "shows evidence of sterilization"

Um, and men under the age of what have to provide a medical affidavit that they do not show evidence of sterilization? That would be...nothing!

1. My county website doesn't mention it
http://www.co.hendricks.in.us/portals/0/dept_clerksoffice/documents/Fee-marriage%20license.htm

And when I was looking this info up in the past, I called a local clinic, and a woman there told me it was no longer required.

3. I believe that is the case ...
It was a law at one time, but no longer is.
