Anyone else see the irony ?
 We're gonna sell fireworks legally now, and with the profit from the new 5% tax, we're gonna use the profit from the new 5% tax to train FIREFIGHTERS. Another monument to the inevitable stupidity of the garden-variety Hoosier.

"Indianapolis, March 9 - Lawmakers in the House and Senate reached a compromise on legislation legalizing fireworks in Indiana.

Under the proposed law, no one under age 18 could buy fireworks, including sparklers. However store clerks age 16 and up could sell them.

According to our news gathering partners at the Indianapolis Star, retailers will collect a five percent tax on their sales, which would raise up to an estimated $4 million a year.

During the first year, $1 million of that money will be used to pay for firefighter training and another $1 million would fund a state disaster relief fund."

1. Hee hee hee.
That's pretty funny. They should also give a little bit of money to those of us who own high-strung dogs who need to be sedated around the 4th of July. :)

2. that's almost up there with the denial of visas
to Iraqi women who wanted to come to the US to tell the story of how their family members were killed by US forces.

The reason the visas were denied?

"They don't have enough family ties to ensure that they will return to Iraq."

DOH!!
