Daniels to serve up more Faux Hick Schtick in a new used RV

Daniels took the keys, if not the steering wheel, of the 2001 Beaver Patriot Thunder motor home in Wakarusa, where employees of Monaco Coach had gotten it ready for him to use. The company has loaned the RV to the state free of charge for one year.

"I'm dazzled, I've got to tell ya,' " Daniels said in a phone interview. "George Strait wants to trade up to this RV."

Daniels traded up himself. During his campaign for governor, he bounced along Indiana's highways and back roads in a 34-foot RV that he dubbed RV1. It became a mobile billboard for his campaign and helped earn him recognition, and votes, across the state.

The new RV1 has bigger everything, Daniels said Friday, and more changes are planned. The bed is going to be replaced with a conference table to make it even more of a rolling office.
