State Journal-Register: Madigan to governor: Give it back
http://www.sj-r.com/Sections/News/Stories/50028.asp

"House Speaker Michael Madigan told Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Wednesday that he should return any campaign cash that came from people or businesses with state government contracts.

Madigan, who also chairs the state Democratic Party, said returning the money is the surest way to defuse the public perception that contracts and campaign contributions are inextricably linked.

"The current notoriety in campaign finance has been caused by people giving contributions to the governor when they have significant contracts with the state," Madigan said. "My suggestion to the governor was give the money back."

He raised the issue during a meeting between Blagojevich and the four legislative leaders. Madigan said the governor "declined to say yes. I wouldn't say he said no, but he didn't say yes."

Here Blago, let me take the load of money off your back.

1. cute
then there will be less for the primary fight against Lisa?? ON the radio yesterday, coming home from Springfield, I heard Raschenberger, I believe, say we should pass a law like Virginia -- a 6 year Governor so that there would be no incentive to take contractor's cash since they won't be running again -- stupidest thing I ever hear -- what about the initial run???? All the contractor hopefuls wouldn't pitch in, then? The only reform is to say -- if you intend to go after a state contract, you can give no more than say, 1,000, or you will be barred from competing for a contract. No current contractors would be allowed to give any more than that 1,000, also.

2. What a freaking smart movie
The Governor is grandstanding and Madigan just told him to put his money where his mouth is. Of course the hypocrite won't do it.
