Chicago Sun-Times: Even Stroger doesn't know if he'll run again

"Cook County Board President John Stroger sounded like a man who could be ready to retire when we chatted Tuesday night.

But I'm not jumping to any conclusions and neither should the conga line of people waiting to run for his job.

"I don't know what I'm going to do,'' Stroger told me.

Stroger was in Washington for a National Association of Counties conference, a national group he once led. I talked to Stroger at a reception Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) was hosting for officials from Cook and other counties

"I have not made any definitive decision to run,'' said Stroger, who joined the board in 1970. He said he was not ready to say "what course I am going to take.''

That would be an interesting race if he decided not to run. Anyone have ideas on who would run?
