the illinois rethug meltdown continues
people, the dupage democrats are my new heroes. i can't believe there is such a thing, let alone that they are the great, together group that i was on wednesday. they had a rocking rally, showed some great move on ads. obama was great. i planted signs and drove the beat bush moblie around the district. there were some pockets of heavy k/e signs, but not many. the only place i have seen it less than 50/50. actually there were very few signs of either type, bumperstickers either. did see a great handmade sign in a yard with some k/e's that said- dear neighbors, please vote dem, this time.
all in all, tho, i am sure christine cegalis WILL WIN!! they are working their hearts out.

5. then you are even more inspiring!!! You got me to actually get the
yard signs this morning. See the yard sign thing thread. I am in DuPage in a highly GOP area. I am the only one on the block with Dem yard signs and I will be taking them in tonight per Ferraro's message earlier this week. (The DuPage Dem Chairperson). Several instances of theft of Dem yard signs in this county. However, bright and early tomorrow morning they will be back out there. Even though I have been a Democrat for many years, I never put out any yard signs.

6. WOOHOO!!! Thanks YOU! Mopinko for the endorsement!!!
Your post means more than you can imagine! :)

Yes, I only joined the Dupage Dems/Naperville Township Democratic Organization this past August. And, yes, I only attended my first meeting this past Thursday...but in those few months I have seen SO MUCH progress! There are more hurdles (rather 1,000 ft walls, if you will), but they are working on it!

Today, I canvassed with one of our local candidates for the County Board. Admittedly, I was a little dismaryed that he didn't want to knock on doors but simply put the info on the door handle...still we split up and got the information out. And, rebel that I am, I went ahead and knocked on doors of those that had Kerry signs in the yards. It was absolutely inspiring! I thanked them for their support, talked a little bit, learned a little bit, and made note for making a followup call to invite them to be INVOLVED after November 2nd. Oh well, it was only six doors...but still, that little bit out of the over 150 houses we went to was HUGE in this area!!! :)

I was impressed with the leadership we have that was displayed this past Thursday at the meeting. They have worked SO VERY HARD in ways you cannot imagine over the past 18+ past months. We applauded our finances being $3,000+, increasing from a little over $1,000 a few months ago. That's a huge achievement since the Republicans have and ANNUAL..yes, ANNUAL budget of $200,000 in this county. We've also increased our email subscribers on the web site from about 150 to over 500!!! To some, it doesn't sound like much, but it is HUGE PROGRESS!

On Friday, I put out signs for out local candidates that were avalable from the meeting (Anderson, Wurf, and Freedman). I also picked up the signs, including Kerry/Edwards, that I have safely tucked in a secure place to put at my polling place on election day at 5:30 am.

Just to give you and idea of the area...Two places I put signs out on the easement at Rte. 59 and Ferry Rd, also on McCoy Avenue (about two blocks west of the Fox Valley Mall). I put signs in other high traffic areas as well, but these two had the signs removed!!! I'll be calling the Fox Valley Park District and/or City of Aurora about the ones on McCoy, but as far as the ones on 59 and Ferry here's the story...This was at a corner where a bank opened a couple of months ago. When I saw the signs gone, I was thoroughly pissed! I decided to go straight to the bank manager and ask. Yes, he had the signs removed.

But, I kept it non-confrontational and asked for the signs back (they were in the trash). He said allowing them there makes it look like they were endorsing. I can understand his position from a business perspective (unbeknownst to me that was the night they were having their grand opening celebration and when I walked into the lobby they had it all set up wit catered food and drinks, etc.). Still, I pointed out to him that I had purposefully placed them on the easement which is legal.

He promised that he will do the same if Republicans put signs out (which I told him I'll be watching for!) and then encouraged me to put them on the other side of this major highway. Then, I asked him if he's in Warrenville or Naperville (it's weird boundries and boundry agreements at that spot). I name dropped about working with Vivian (mayor of Warrenville that I know and have worked with) that she's wonderful to work with...just to let him know that I know the mayor. Then said George (mayor of Naperville who I also know and have worked with) is also wonderful.

So, all in all, I wasn't about to jeopordize or taint in any way being a Democrat in the Naperville area and the psychological association, in general. There will come a time in the future this will pay off.

While we're fighting and fighting hard, it might not seem like much. But we are making great strides! I can see it and I can FEEL it!

We may not win all of the elections this year, but we are absolute making progress! You can count on it!!!
