Does anyone here remember
the name of the Republican who did a commercial for Obama during the election. They've been running ads that are showing here linking him to Obama, but for the life of me I can't remember his name now. Just wondering how he is doing in the Primary. Thanks.

5. Yes it's Kirk Dilllard
Edited on Wed Feb-03-10 01:25 PM by Venceremos
Dillard is in second place as of 12:20 pm on February 3. He's 1605 votes behind the leader Bill Brady. My local (Illinois) newspaper is reporting Brady has 153,876 votes and Dillard has 152,271 with 99% of precincts reporting. And there's probably going to be a recount.

Dillard had several problems that cost him - along with his Obama endorsement, he was the only Republican candidate who refused to sign a pledge to not raise taxes on Illinois residents. He was also involved in the University of Illinois admissions scandal, in which politicians from both parties pressured university officials to admit certain students even if they weren't qualified (also known as "clout admissions"). Dillard used his clout to get 7 students admitted. That might not sound like a big deal, but it pissed off people who got into the school on merit alone.

6. Dillard in second - down to a 751 vote difference
Dillard is still in second place but he's only 751 votes behind Brady.

Democrats should be rooting for Brady to win. Dillard as a moderate would stand a better chance in the general election.
