3. Last year, my seasonal flu became pneumonia. I was in bed for 2 weeks,
and cracked a rib coughing. The chills and aches were the worst part. I haven't been so sick since I had viral pneumonia as a kid.

My work takes me in and out of hospitals and nursing homes, and I shake a lot of hands. It was stupid of me to not get a shot. I just didn't think about it. Hadn't gotten one two years ago, and was fine. I won't take the chance again.

4. i was getting pneumonia every year until someone told me there
was a vaccine for pneumonia i could get--one that lasted five years. (something like that)
so i got it and haven't had pneumonia since.

however...my doctor didn't bother telling me about the vaccine--i had to ask him for it. i found out about it from a friend whose daughter was getting pneumonia every year also. so until i found out about it...every year i was doing the double x-ray (before to determine if i really had pneumonia and then after the round of $100 antibiotics to determine that it had cleared up. and i don't have insurance! ah yes--thank you & fuck you medical industry)

5. docs are always the last to know, it seems.
the doc that has been treating me for 4 years for symptoms including fatigue was not the one who suggested i get a sleep study. that would be me. even though we had talked about sleep, i had emphasized the impact sleep had on pain levels, and i was on medication for sleep. turns out if have apnea. grr.

7. Wow, At least they will be treating you
for the right thing now. How did they finally come to the diagnoses of sleep apnea ?

8. i decided to see a sleep doc. my symptoms were plain.
the sleep study would have shown any problem, apnea is just the most common. i was shocked to hear that part, really, as DH had never noticed anything like it, and i only rarely snore.
thank gawd i have the sort of insurance where i can up and go to a doc because i want to.
i learned my lesson tho- keep looking till you find the answer. just cuz they are docs doesn't mean they have them all.

6. Yep, Got my Flu Shot yesterday
and I went through the same scenario for two years in a row with pneumonia until
I got the pneumonia shot last year. So far so good. Doc told me the shot for the new
flu is a government run operation and he has no idea of the whats or whens.

9. Waiting on test results for suspected H1N1 here...
My doctor suspects that I had H1N1 this past weekend, and we're awaiting test results confirming that. Ironically, the vaccine became available here today...

11. I'm well again...
I was miserable for about 2 1/2 - 3 days, but I seemed to recover fairly rapidly and uneventfully after that.

My doc said my test results should be back Friday.
