IL Reform commission to meet in Naperville March 19 Support public financing
Thursday, March 19, 2009
Time: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Location: North Central College, Meiley-Swallow Hall at Thrust Stage, Naperville, IL

Please be there to advocate for the progressive idea of public financing of campaigns.
The ONLY way to get politicians to act in the public interest is to put them under the publics payroll fully!
Here is a link for a great, and I suggest the only way Illinois campaign laws should be done. http://www.publicampaign.org/
There is a bill in the IL house that would do this. It is HB0733
It is sponsored by Mike Boland(D) and co-sponsored by Elizabeth Coulson (R)
Details of the bill are here;

3. He has been a great friend to us here in Ogle County.
We are so red here that he is the closest Democratic rep. I can consult about what is going on in Springfield.

He comes to our open houses and events. He buys tickets for our fundraisers. He supports our candidates.

I felt badly when I missed his Out With Bush party in January. I was in the hospital. I am going to make a point of going to his fundraisers and events this year, even though I don't get to vote for him.

The last time I saw him was in Whiteside County at their chicken dinner and drawdown. He split the grand prize with someone. His winnings were a drop in the bucket compared to all he shells out for Democratic events around the area.

The republicans have targeted his seat in the past, throwing lots of money to whomever was running against him. It hasn't worked yet.

He has a bill pending that would prevent some of these office holders from resigning early and making a back room deal to appoint their successor. When they do that, their successor can run as the incumbent and essentially campaign at taxpayers' expense. Several republicans around here have done that, but Democrats do it, too. The law to change that is needed, but Madigan has it tied up in committee. It figures. (Mike Boland has no use for Madigan).

I can't tell you how grateful I am that Boland has time for us in our red county. We work so hard and make so little headway.
