art fair, and BeHereNow
ok, illinois du'ers, here are a couple of opportunities IRL.
first of all, BeHereNow is visiting for a little over a week. her kiddo goes to school here, and she is visiting her. she is here from the 21st to july 1. she would like to get together. opportunity #1 for that is- this coming weekend, 6/23-24, the city of evanston hosts the fountain square arts festival.
this is a couple of blocks from my studio at the midwest clay guild so, we are having a sidewalk sale from noon to 5 both days. i hope that BHN will truck on up one of those 2 days, but if she doesn't we should have a get together. so, what day works for people? i like fridays myself, but what do folks think?

1. Friday the 24th might work really well-
The kid works down close to the Art Institute-
I think she gets off around 5 or 6-
Maybe we could all meet up some where easily accessible
to the train?
I will be coming in from Pilsen to meet up with daughter
when she gets off work, so we can be flexible about a
meet up place.
She knows the trains pretty well, so you all just say
when and where.

I would also like to go to festival that weekend-
I want to see Mo's art work!
BHN. looking forward to meeting my DU Chitown brothers and sisters...:grouphug:

2. Forgot to ask- recommendations on local service/ phone etc...
While I am visiting my daughter, I want to help her
hook up a phone/internet/cable package for her
new apartment. What do Chicago DUers recommend
as far as providers go?
She needs wireless for her laptop internet connection-
her jack is busted and repair is twice what the
damned thing is worth.

Your advice is appreciated-

3. it's pretty much monopolized
she will only have a couple of choices. they sliced up that pie, and she gets the pie flaovr of her choice. probably comcast, and rcn.

6. I figured as much, but thought I'd ask anyway-
My daughter doesn't like using the phone-
I can't even get her to call and ask the
available companies about service-
It's an aspie thing. She would never call
to order a pizza either- she would rather go hungry
than get on the phone with a stranger.

17. Well, in the city at least, Comcast SUCKS EGGS. We actually just canceled it because
it was never working right. So if she has another choice, I'd take that. Not that there are many choices.

5. You got it- I'll call you when I get there
Sorry, I wasn't thinking!
You probably have tons to do to prepare for
Saturday and Sunday!

I will try to get my kidlet to commit to either
Saturday or Sunday as far as coming to see you
at the fair. We can work a plan from there.
Will you have your cell with you at the fair?
So we can find you and all?

This is going to be FUN!

18. Too bad. The next two weekends for me are nuts. We have plans and then plans
should those original plans fall through. I'm just hoping I'll have time to get to the Evanston farmer's market Saturday morning. Ooooh the strawberries and rhubarb I bought last weekend were amazing.

My kid is working all day Friday, and doing backstage at a
ballet Friday night- I'm thinking she will be exhausted Saturday
and just want to hang at home.
Sunday anyone?
Mopinko's booth at the art fair?

11. in the clay guild parking lot-
map right here
there is a cta purple line stop at dempster, just north and east of our building, and a metra northline which is 4 blocks north at davis.
our building has a huge old brick chimney from it's previous incarnation as a commercial laundry. if everyone does their job, there will be little flyers pasted up around the area pointing to us.

13. Yes, I think that is the plan-
I am planning on taking a train up from the Pilsen area-
I am thinking sometime in the afternoon?
Knowing my daughter she will not be ready to roll before noon.
I'll PM you with my cell.
Mopinko has it and I just put hers in my phone.
Off to finish packing,

14. we will be in our parking lot. dempster and sherman,
1/2 block south of the purple line depmster stop. map link in the previous post. we are 4 blocks south of fountain square, where the art fair is. not sure what the art fair hours are, but ours will be noon to 5. so there will be plenty of time for drinks afterward.

19. do you think you can make it?
i will be closing up at 5. it will take a little while to pull it all down. so, depending on how much of the rest of the fair you want to see, etc, time is up to you.

16. My nephew and his wife are in the process of moving....
Wow, they've been married just over a month and it is real fun to say that.

Their furniture is on the truck as of today. They have two closings to attend tomorrow. On Friday, the truck delivers their furniture. Hopefully the three kids (hers, from a previous marriage, NOT to be confused with the triplets...I now have six greats...) are not on the truck.

We are going to Mundelein on Sunday to see the new house. And probably help them unpack.

Have a great time!!!
