I was visiting in Lewiston last week. My god, it is dry. We saw many grass fires that had burned right up to the houses. People in their 50 & 60's said that they have never seen it this dry. We went up into the Snake River canyon in a jet boat and saw the remnants from three grass burns--one 28 miles long and who knows how far to the east it is burned.
We have the most acres burning right now and have received very little precipitation this summer. This is the first time, to my knowledge, that the Forest Service has banned all camp fires in the Sawtooths.
2. It seems that Idaho is being more affected by global warming

than we are on the coast right now. I was surprised to hear Idahoans bring up global warming. There's been a lot of publicity about what will happen on the coast, but not much regarding the inland. The blowing dirt reminded me of pictures of the dust bowl in the 30's. Everyone was talking about friends or relatives that are out on the fire lines.
I wish we could send you some moisture from the coast. The people were all so nice to us.
