Gold mine proposal draws protests and a public hearing
01:13 PM MDT on Sunday, July 15, 2007
Associated Press

LEWISTON - A proposed gold mine near Lucile has drawn so many protests that a public hearing has been set for Wednesday in McCall.

Lucile resident Tom Lindsey wants to mine an ancient river channel between the Salmon River and US Highway 95. ~snip~

The Idaho Department of Lands received more than 90 requests for a public hearing on the mine, far more than the ten needed to bring about a hearing. ~snip~

Sharon Murray of the Idaho Department of Lands says that even if Lindsey gets the lease, he will still have to get a placer and dredging mining permit and file a reclamation plan.
