Right to work law?
Okay, recently passing through Idaho I saw a "Right To Work SUCKS" bumper sticker in Coeur d'Alene. That's not anything out of the ordinary to see but then in Idaho Falls I saw a political sign by the freeway that said "FREE IDAHO - Repeal 'Right To Work'".

Is there a ballot initiative in Idaho this year to repeal the 'right to work' law? (For those who don't know, repealing those mis-named union-busting laws is one of the most worthwhile liberal causes there is.)

If so, any chance of it passing?

It would be great to see Idaho of all places as a bellweather state on a liberal issue. It would truly be a sign that the tide has turned.

Also, a political bumper sticker report from Idaho: The only stickers I saw were Kerry stickers. Not a single Bush sticker did I see in Idaho! I saw the same thing in Utah, only Kerry stickers. Very heartwarming to see, although it could just mean that the Repukes are taking those two states for granted. Washington State, by comparison, has huge Bush signs all over the place.

1. Last I heard
people were gathering signatures to try to repeal the right to work law, but I don't think they got enough of them to force a ballot initiative.

I live in Boise (which is one of the most liberal places in Idaho I think), and I've seen one Bush/Cheney sticker in the last month.

On the other hand, I haven't seen very many Kerry stickers around.

I checked on the web and it was a group up in the Panhandle trying to get the right-to-work repeal initiative on the ballot. They didn't get enough signatures this year.

I'm of the opinion that after getting the Bush regime out of there and the Patriot Act etc repealed, the next big priority should be passing livable wage laws and repealing 'right-to-work.' The last one of those would have to be done on the state by state level. They're both big win-win issues for us and will re-establish Democrats appeal with blue collar folks. It could even help us take back states like Idaho and Ohio and Minnesota where far too many blue collar workers have been duped into voting for Repukes.
