Texas DUers coming to DC please check in (Rita is coming to town)

This thing looks like it's heading straight for Galveston/Houston and then heading north to Dallas and possibly swipe Austin along the way.

My only concern is the airports in the area being closed Sunday due to harsh weather especially for DUers who might be travelling back to that area on Sunday.

So my request is this - if you are from Texas and coming to DC, please make sure you have enough of the necessities just in case your airport gets closed on Sunday. As small and cluttered as my place is I'll be happy to keep a few Delayed DUers at my place and get you back down to DC when a flight is available. I'm sure that we have others in the DC area who would help out if someone gets their flight bumped.

1. I think that any Gulf Coast Texan DU that had plans to come to DC
this weekend may be having a change of plans. Concern for loved ones and property may be shifting their agendas.

2. I don't think we have anyone coming from Galveston/Houston
But probably from further north and inland. As soon as a hurricane hits land it loses power but it will bring rain, electrical storms and possible tornados. So there could be a possiblity of closed airports.

3. thanks lynn
i'm still headed up to dc, but one of my friends isn't & the other won't decide until later today. sooo, i will either be cancelling the reservation i have in alexandria & looking for cheaper digs or opening up space for 1 other person of the female, non smoking persuasion to split the room cost.

it's going in too far north to affect where i live. i'm only going to get screwed on the way home (have to connect in dfw).

6. Forecast for Austin on Sunday: partly cloudy, high of 89.
So, looks like we're going to be ok for return flights.
