Protest the Stryker!
Saturday, February 18, 10-12 am
Blaisdell Center, Ward Avenue
The publicity for the Great Aloha Run Health and Fitness Expo at the Blaisdell this coming weekend claims the Expo will be "the ultimate marketplace with hundreds of exhibitors showcasing products and services that make you feel good." And what makes you feel good? A "special tribute to the military" in the form of a "Stryker Medical Evacuation Vehicle" and a helicopter! So they've taken the guns off a Stryker, fitted it out with medical equipment, and are displaying it at a "health and fitness" fair in order to silence dissent.
Any kid knows how easily and quickly a "transformer" can be transformed. By the Army's own admission, the Stryker is designed to "quell urban unrest". And if they are really concerned about the health of GI's they would just get the hell out of Iraq! Now! And to show this vehicle off at a Health and Fitness Expo is an added slap in the face to everyone in Hawai`i who will have to live with the air pollution and toxins that the Army openly admits in its Environmental Impact Statement that they will be unable to mitigate.

Don't let the Army or anyone involved in this travesty get away with this! We're calling on people to take a few hours out of your precious Saturday weekend time to join a signholding on Ward. The public has to buy a ticket at the ticket office, so we'll be outside of the ticket office with our "Stop the Stryker" banner and placards at 10 am and expect to be there until noon. We also have lots of "Stop the Stryker" brochures to distribute.

The signholding will be on the sidewalk and legal. So bring your family. And if you're going into the Expo, make sure you wear a "Stop the Stryker" T-shirt If you don't have one, make one! As far as we know, wearing a T-shirt with a message is still legal (although Cindy Sheehan proved you might get arrested for it).

We also urge you to express your outrage to the Expo organizer: Alan Sunio: grun@iav.com or (808)528-7388. And to the official sponsors: Hawaiian Tel Com, The Advertiser, and the Weinberg Foundation.

OKINAWAN LEADERS TO DISCUSS RESISTANCE TO US MILITARY BASES
Nuchi Du Takara : The Struggle for Peace and Life in Okinawa
Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear leaders from two Okinawan communities heavily impacted by U.S. military bases discuss their movement to counter the destructive impacts of these bases.
Wednesday, February 15, 2006, 6:30 to 8:30 pm
University of Hawai`i at Manoa, Art Auditorium

Thursday, February 16, 2006, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Jikoen Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 1731 N. School St. (and Likelike Hwy)
Both events are free and open to the public.

Stop UARC!
Interim President McClain has announced that he'll make his recommendation on UARC at the Board of Regents Meeting on Thursday, Feb 16, at Honolulu Community College (Dillingham Blvd). Opponents of UARC are planning to be there at 9:00 am. To stay on top of what's happening check StopUARC.
World Can't Wait Picnic!
Outraged, angry, disgusted, freaked out about everything the Bush Regime is doing? Then you need to get down with others to figure out how to turn this outrage into action! World Can't Wait organizers and friends will be having a picnic at San Souci Beach from 4-7 pm on Saturday afternoon, February 18. Meet each other, strategize, debate - and get in a swim. All while getting down around how to build the kind of movement that can really drive the Bush Regime out of office!
Day After Protest if the U.S. attacks Iran
If there is a military attack on Iran there will be a protest at the Federal Building from 4-6 pm on the day after the attack.
An article in the Telegraph/UK reported Sunday that the U.S. is planning a possible attack on Iran. Check it out at: Iran attack. That alarming article was followed up with another estimating the number of Iranians that would be killed in such an attack: casualties. We don't know how credible these are, but we know the Bush Regime is capable of doing such a thing. So be prepared. Tell everyone.

3rd Anniversary of the War on Iraq: March 18th
There will be a march through Waikiki to protest the war on Iraq on Saturday evening, March 18th. Gather in front of the Zoo at 6 pm for a short rally, followed by the march. We're in the process of getting the permit, making arrangements for parking, and we'll have a trolley. So reserve the evening!

Endless War and Repression? Not In Our Name!
Unite to Drive Out the Bush Regime!
